Most cake decorators will enquire as to  the number of people or guest you will be serving and if you are serving your cake as a coffee/tea accompaniment or as a desert. The size for coffee is normally 1"x2" pieces and a desert size  is normally 3" x 2". As for the cake sizes they can start at 4" and go up to around a 16" and can be a variety of shapes and hieghts, depending on the cake decorator.

Wedding cakes are usually served as coffee size pieces because most venues serve a 3 course meal.

However some brides like to make the cake the dessert and serve either small dessert or large dessert serves.

Cakes come in all shapes and sizes.

Depending if your cake is for dessert/cocktail or token portions will determine the cake size you will require.

Your cake maker will recommend the right size for your requirements.

Hi,

Wedding cake sizes are 1"x2" (2.5cm x 5cm) tradiionally. But, can be larger if you wish. Just remember to specify to you cake decorator which you would like. It does make a difference.
