Hi Bride to be . That is totally up to you and your partner .

Not everyone will eat the wedding cake . Dessert is always used .

Some brides have a smaller cake and a cutting cake to serve the guests .

You can choose to do whatever you like it's your big day! But if a couple wants a small wedding cake and has lots of guests then we can always make a kitchen slice the same flavour so there is enough to go round. This reduces the cost quite a bit : )

Congradulations on your upcoming wedding.

It's up to you. These days we have lots of choices and nothing is wrong. A lot of our desitions are made from cost effectivness.

There is a lot of cost associated with a wedding, and there are a lot of venues that charge cakeage and that cakeage sometimes can cost more than the deseart. This is why alot of brides are turning to one small cutting cake and cup cakes, that the geusts can go up to the table and take themselves. This can sometimes save on cakeage.

Hope this helps you.

Best wishes for the future

Hi,

So sorry for the late reply. Traditionally you only need to have a 'kitchen cake' if the wedding cake you have is not big enough to feed everyone. In this instance you would have a wedding cake as well as another cake behind the scenes in the kitchen. So to answer your question, if your wedding cake is not big enough to feed every one of your guests yes you need a kitchen cake to be cut up and handed out along with the wedding cake. I hope you find this helpful. Regards, Vicky

That depends on the number of guests attending - will their be enough cake for everyone? If no and you really like the idea of a small wedding cake, then a "kitchen" slab cake may be the answer. If you have other desserts on the Menu as well as the wedding cake, then a small wedding cake and no other wedding cake will be fine. Finally, if you have a small number of guests or know that not all of your guests will eat the wedding cake, then just the small wedding cake will be sufficient.

Please remember, it is your wedding and your guests are their to celebrate this very important occasion with you, they are not coming purely for the food. Have what you like and what you want and enjoy your special day!

hi,

Some of the bride having small cake for display and having a slab cake to cut and can cut the price as well. This is better if the amount of guests are quite a lot. Hope it helps.

Thanks,

Evi

gosh NO !!! I always tell my brides..."it's your wedding...you can do what you like" !       some brides like to follow tradition..... others like to do something out of  the box  ....or a suprise for their guests. ..... the main  thing is to do something you like that fits in with your theme and stlye.  Many receptions have a dessert buffet included in the menue so a huge cake isn't neccessary.

Take into consideration the number of guests that will be at your wedding.  Usually most will like a piece of your yummy wedding cake that has been the centre of attention throughout the reception.  The caker maker  will ask you the number of guests  attending and she / he will be able to ensure you have enough cake and also meet your budget.

Hope this is of help to you. All the best for your wedding day.

Dear Madam

Many thanks for your email regarding the size of your wedding cake. It really depends on the number of guests you are having. If you are having up to 80 guests, a 2 tier cake should be enough and the size of the cakes are 6" top tier and 8" bottom tier. All my cakes are 4 layers of cake with a chocolate ganache in between each layer and are approximately 5" high. If you would like a small wedding cake, but don't want it any larger, but have more guests you can have a 'kitchen cake' which is iced but not decorated and goes straight to the kitchen for cutting. If you would like to discuss further, please do not hesitate to contact me either via my easy weddings profile at no obligation.

With kind regards

Sharon
