What are the most common wedding cake flavours?

Popular flavours are Mud cakes. My Red Velvet cake is the most common flavour chosen at my free tastings. Vanilla is also popular as it is a lighter flavour that most people would enjoy. I offer different flavours of each tier so everyone is happy!

Do wedding cakes have fake tiers?

Yes.  The whole cake can be fake or just one or more tiers


Does the wedding cake maker bring a stand for the cake or not?

I hire out cake stands which you can use.

Only some reception venues have stands

This is usually something you have to add on to the cost or organise one yourself.

What are the standard offerings?

Wedding cakes are usually served as coffee size pieces because most venues serve a 3 course meal.

However some brides like to make the cake the dessert and serve either small dessert or large dessert serves. 

why are wedding cakes white?

Is there a traditional reason why wedding cakes are usually white?

I think traditionally wedding cakes were white to reflect the purity of the marriage. Brides eere white to signify purity so the cake was also white. Theze days there are really no rules!

What's an idea for a wedding cake flavour that's not too sweet or sugary?

I recommend my vanilla/buttacake. It is light flavour but still moist and yummy

Do you do wedding cheesecakes?

No I'm sorry I don't  make cheesecakes  but I have a wide variety of flavours to choose from on my website 

Are there gluten free options for cake?

After advice on gluten free options. Worried having a gluten free cake will result in no one eating the cake.

Yes I offer gluten free cakes. If you know some of your guests have a gluten allergy then you can offer this. I can bake the smallest tier as a gluten free cake but have the other tiers different flavours.  Another alternative is to provide some separate cupcakes that are gluten free for those guests.  This minimises waste yet still provides a solution to keep everyone happy

cost for a simple wedding cake?

looking to find the cost of a 3 layered, round, red velvet wedding cake glazed in white icing and decorated all over with edible white roses?


A 3 tier wedding cake covered in fondant icing with edible sugar roses would be approximately $600-$800

This style is the most expensive wedding cake you can have because fondant icing is more expensive than buttercream or having a semi naked cake. Also sugar edible flowers are more expensive than using fresh flowers due to the time involved in making them.  I have prices on my website alongside many different designs so you can compare the prices of different styles.

cheese towers - are they tacky?

and do they even get eaten

I don't think cheese towers are tacky as such but they are a bit old fashioned.

You can spend a bit of money providing different cheeses etc that won't get eaten.

Many weddings  provide a sweet buffet table or mini cupcakes etc.

do cake stands come with the wedding cake?

And cake topper? Or are those given back at the end?

Hi Luci,

Wedding cakes only come on a board usually covered in icing and most brides buy their own cake topper which they then get to keep. I hire cake stands out and can arrange the purchase of a cake topper which would be included in the overall price ??



What kind of cake suits a boho theme?

A boho theme wedding cake would be a beautiful naked or semi naked cake (a smear of buttercream) with fresh flowers. Very natural, organic looking with assorted coloured flowers and foliage.

Do I cut the top tier or bottom tier of my wedding cake?

Hi, I have two questions in one. First of all, when cutting the cake, are we supposed to cut the top tier or the bottom tier? Secondly, which leg should the garter go on?

Cut into the bottom tier.
