Hi, I am in a long distance relationship with someone in the Philippines. We are looking to get married, but in the Philippines, you need to get your parents consent if you are under 21 and she is 19. If we were to get married in Australia, will she still need parental consent? The reason why we don't want her parents consent is because her mother is emotionally abusive, controlling and toxic. She will never consent to us getting married.

I feel heartened to answer your Question as it is a good answer for you and your Philipines Love. You can marry in Australia, as soon as your fiance has provided I.D. to have your Notice of Intention to Marry to be processed. This can be done by any person with the authority to do so. The Legal age to marry in Australia is 18. So pick up your Bride and run toward your future. Jan
Dear Bride,
I am very sorry to hear of your partner's situation, I hope She can leave that environment as soon as possible. It must also be very difficult for you to watch someone you love go through all of that.
In regard to your question, I am pleased to advise that in Australia, the legal marrying age is 18, so She would not require parental consent of any kind for the two of you to get married here.
I wis you both the best of luck and a very long and happy life together.
In Australia, as long as you are both over 18 and freely entering into the marriage, you can be married. (There are a few other legal limits but it doesn't sound like this case needs to worry about them.)

Unless there has been approval from Australian Courts, the legal age for marriage is 18
As long as both parties are of the legal age of 18, they can marry here in Australia.

You can get married in Australia if you are over 18 years old.
Hi,
Under the Marriage Act of 1961 a person may marry when they attain the age of 18 so there's no problem about you marrying her provided that you are also of marriagable age. The process is for you can be twofold. Firstly she can come to Australia on a tourist visa, You can marry her but she will not be able to legally work in Australia. Otherwise you will need to complete the Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM) sign and have it witnessed and lodged. A celebrant can then write to the relevant government department to support your claim to have her brought over and legally immigrate on a spouse visa. Often an Immigration agent can assist but it can be expensive. Do you wish to live and work in Australia? if you wish to live elsewhere you can still get married in Australia as australia recognises foreign marriages and they are recriprocal?

No. As long as you are both over 18, ou can marry in Australia.
You just need to be both over 18 in Australia - no consent required for 21 and 19 year olds

You can get married here in Australia from the age of 18 onwards.
I would suggest you contact a marriage celebrant and start the paperwork, then when your fiancee arrives for a holiday you can marry.
But i would caution you that this does not mean your fiancee will get a visa and that has to be applied for in the usual channels.
Also consider what will happen in the Philippines when your fiancee's family find out that you are married ?
She will not be allowed to stay here until her visa is granted and will have to travel home at some point
