Hi Carli, I agree with the responses you have received below in that it is best to book your celebrant once you have locked in your wedding with the venue you choose. From a celebrant's point of view, this gives time to provide birth certificates or other documentation required to complete the Notice of Intended Marriage and to prepare a ceremony without any pressure or haste. All the best with your wedding plans!

Once you have booked the venue then you need to book the celebrant.
I have booking through 2018 and 2019 already so to get the celebrant you want you must book as soon as you can
Hello Carli,
It is advised to engage a Celebrant as soon as possible. There are usually 3 things that are considered important - Venue (defines the date and time) Celebrant (can't have a wedding without the legalities) Photographer (lots of wonderful memories). If you arrange these three then everything else should fall into place.
Good luck Carlie.
Hi Carli! Choosing a celebrant is a very personal decision. I encourage you to invest some time meet with potential celebrants until you feel comfortable. Often celebrants, like photographers are booked upto a year in advance!
For a simple ceremony it can certainly be done in the 4 week time frame relating to the Notice of Intended Marriage but give it as much time as possible to help us to give it the attention your day deserves.
Hi Carli
Hiring a celebrant for your marriage ceremony I feel should be third on the list - first the date decided upon, the venue picked, then the Celebrant followed by the photographer. Wedding specialists are booked usually 12 months in advance, as are venues, so to get the place and person you feel best suits you and your partner, it's better to lock them in early.

Legal requirements are such that before you can marry, the Notice of Intended Marriage must be lodged with the celebrant a minimum of 1 calendar month before the big day. So the sooner the better. You can book the venue and then the celebrant.
Hi Carli, planning your wedding (which is extremely exciting) is really a holistic process. You'll both be thinking about the time of year, the ideal venue and location, the theme of your wedding, the ambience you want to create for you and your guests, and you'll no doubt have some ideas about your ceremony. It is at this time too that you will start to consider the style and qualities of the Celebrant who will complement the picture you are creating about your wedding. With this in mind doing your research sooner than later to find the 'right' Celebrant for you and securing their service is highly recommended. And of course there are legalities of paperwork and notice of marriage timeframes (one month's notice) that need to be considered. Hope this helps.
All the best.

Hi there, sooner the better. Latest I would say would be 6 weeks out but you will be cutting it fine with availability if that was the case. Legally paperwork needs to be done one month and one day prior to your wedding date.

The sooner the better Carli. Generally couples decide on the venue and date of their wedding first and then start considering the suppliers. Top celebrants are often booked around 4 or 5pm on Saturdays, 6 months in advance ... sometimes a year ahead of the wedding day. I would get onto booking a celebrant asap.
