Helen Twyman-Smith SupplierHero Marriage Celebrant 64 +

As a fun, witty celebrant, Helen Twyman-Smith enjoys creating light-hearted, custom weddings for her couples. Helen’s ceremonies are entertaining, and aren’t awkward formalities you’ve got to endure to get to cocktail hour. Yours might include an entertaining story of how you met or personalised vows, but whatever direction you choose, you can bet your ceremony will be filled with plenty of heart.

How to describe celebrant Helen Twyman-Smith… we could tell you she’s a hopeless romantic with a passion for all-things love and family, or perhaps we might mention her quick wit and great sense of humour. But we think the best way to encapsulate celebrant Helen is with a single word: Thoughtfulness.

This creative, open-minded celebrant is attentive to her couples’ needs, and puts love and consideration into crafting their bespoke ceremony. One thing all her ceremonies include are lots of personal touches and sweet anecdotes - like the story of how you met, for example. This is so your ceremony is fun, engaging, and an enjoyable part of your wedding, not something you need to get through in order to celebrate at your reception.

Situated in Picton, Helen loves bringing people together, and uses her outgoing personality, bubbliness, and natural confidence to lift the energy at your wedding, ensuring all guests are engaged and - if it’s your preference - shedding a happy tear or two!

“Helen was amazing. She is very professional, funny, thoughtful. My husband Brad and I were  extremely happy with Helen. She provides a very personal service. Helen went up and beyond and I cannot thank her enough for her amazing  services. Thank you Helen.” Sharon

“We were fortunate to have Helen as our celebrant for our wedding day. Helen made the entire process so easy and fun, even when we got stressed by the enormity of planning a COVID-19 wedding in a short space of time, Helen was there, checking in with us to ask what she could take off our shoulders … Helen went above and beyond our expectations, and she did so with warmth, compassion, and a lovely sense of humour! You will be in safe and kind hands choosing Helen to be your celebrant and we could not recommend her highly enough.” Colette

March 2024

We’re so happy that Helen was the marriage celebrant for our intimate elopement ceremony in Bowral’s Corbett Gardens in March 2024. Starting from our initial meeting with Helen during our interviews to choose a celebrant, she presented a warm caring and approachable personality. Her professionalism and promptness in email replies and follow up actions assured my partner and I that we had made a great decision in choosing Helen as our celebrant. Helen guided us through the entire marriage process including the paperwork (one less thing for us to stress over!), helping us plan a ceremony that was perfect for our elopement, including vow writing guidance and reviewing. We can’t thank Helen enough, our wedding day went perfectly to plan and it was everything that we had hoped for and more.

Hi Gavin & Brian. Thank you so very much for your very kind words and for allowing me to play a role in your unbelievably special and fun day. It fills my cup to help wonderful people like yourselves, to not just 'get married' but in a way that speaks to the special bond they share and what a fun filled, personal and heartfelt day yours was with the gorgeous Zack and Zeb ALMOST stealing the limelight amongst those incredible bubbles. I do look forward to catching up with you again soon. Warm Regards, Helen

February 2024

Helen was recommended by multiple people from the Wollondilly area on social media pages so we decided to go ahead and book her to be our celebrant. WOW we are glad we did, Helen was so incredibly professional and yet made the whole process feel so relaxed at the same time. Our wedding was small and intimate and Helen personalised our ceremony to perfection, she managed to gauge exactly who we are as individuals and as a couple and we could feel that throughout the ceremony. I would highly recommend Helen to anyone that’s getting married and can not speak highly enough of her. Thanks so much for making our big day so special !

November 2023

We are so happy that we chose Helen to be our celebrant at our small family wedding. She was warm, personal and professional all at the same time. She made the whole process beforehand very easy and she was always available for any questions along the way. We had the most beautiful ceremony and she spoke so nicely about our relationship and our story. We highly recommend using Helen as your celebrant.

October 2023

Helen was our wonderful celebrant in September 2023 and I cannot express our gratitude towards this wonderful lady. Everything was so efficiently and smoothly taken care of, and with lovely little surprises along the way to make us feel extremely important and loved. If you’re searching for a celebrant that can do it all (love, humour, kindness and expertise), then choose Helen as your celebrant. I can honestly say we loved every second of our journey and many of our guests commented on how wonderful she was also. A true expert and gem in her field. Thanks Helen.

Alana D.

Helen Twyman-Smith

Thanks for your kind feedback Alana and Mitch! It truly was an honour to get you two happily 'Mitched' and in such a spectacular location. I had the best time, both as a Celebrant and as a guest at your AMAZING wedding reception. Thanks for inviting me ;-) The food, the company, the speeches, the dancing…and that sax player, WOW! You are surrounded by so much love and respect by beautiful family and friends which reflects the awesomeness of you both as a couple and as individuals. Wishing you both many happy years ahead in marriage and in travels. Luv Helen. XOXO

Advice for having your dog in your ceremony

Would love some advice! We def want to include our dog in our wedding ceremony! We want him as the ring bearer. Are they are any things to avoid or prepare for in advance? Thanks!

Helen Twyman-Smith

Hi there!

Having your precious pooch at your ceremony is a lovely idea and something I always find that guests get a kick out of too, not to mention the awesome photos you will have for may years to come.

A professional pet handler is something to consider as dogs can get excited and sometimes a little stressed with unfamiliar surroundings.

They will look after your fur baby as if it was their own and you will be free to relax and enjoy your very special day.

Wishing you the very best for your wedding day and future together as a married couple.

Hi there, I'd love some tips for dealing with unsolicited wedding advice.

I'm currently dealing with an overbearing MIL and would really appreciate some advice on how best to handle the situation. How would you suggest avoiding/dealing with unsolicited wedding advice from difficult family members?

Helen Twyman-Smith

My advice is to tell them (whoever the advice is coming from) that you love them very much and value their opinions as they are important to you both, however you will 'take it on board' and consider it with all other options.

Then thank them for their input.

This will help them to feel seen, heard and appreciated whilst giving you the the freedom to do things your way, unless they are paying for your wedding, then you might need to 'throw them a bone' on something (but not everything!)

How can I pay tribute at my wedding to my dad who's no longer with us?

Dad passed away 12 months ago. Would love some ideas how I can still include him somehow.

Helen Twyman-Smith

I'm very sorry on the loss of your Dad 12 months ago.

There are various ways in which your Dad can be honoured at your wedding, starting with a tribute in words, either by way of a poem, a reading or even few short words of acknowledgement.

You may choose to have a candle lighting ceremony with a lovely intro of words then some soft music playing as the candle is lit by you, you & your fiance or another significant family member.

A table or ladder can be set up in the ceremony space with photographs and a candle already burning.

There is also the option of reserving a front row seat for him with a reservation sign & photo or other memorabilia.

These & more options are available, bringing a balance of reflection and celebration, specific to your individual needs and comfort.
