FAQ

No two ceremonies are ever the same.  The couple's requirements will always vary.  Bigger ceremonies require more choreography, more people involved, bridal parties to manage, most likely a PA system will be required.  More technique from a Celebrant is required and there's always more chance for the unexpected to arise.  A small wedding party is generally straight forward without the 'bells & whistles', or PA system and frequently close to home.  In the case of wet weather, a small wedding can be easily shifted to another covered venue.

Then there is travel - is your ceremony within the Celebrant's normal 'zone'?  You can pay additional for travel - up to $200 extra on top of the regular fee.

Best advice is to have a good idea on the details for your ceremony, the Celebrant can then give you the fairest fee quote from there.

If all wedding ceremonies cost the same, then your wedding would be just like everyone else's....

Tara has an innate ability to tell stories. She does this with great passion and pride and worked with us to create ours. She told a story that captured our personalities and captivated our audience - especially the Engineer humour. For stories that last a lifetime, Pick Tara.

Tara was the perfect celebrant. Me and my partner are not over the top romantic or serious but she did an amazing service that reflected us perfectly. Very down to earth and charismatic. Highly recommend.

Tara was the perfect celebrant for our wedding. She created an elegant and light-hearted feel, nothing cheesy, mushy or religious. Tara personalised our ceremony and we wrote our own vous to make it that extra special.

How many weddings do you book in per day?

Are celebrants usually doing one per day? or two on some days? How is this possible?! haha

Tara Rennie Marriage Celebrant

Good celebrants know how to run the ceremony, run their schedule and allow enough contingency time.  It all comes from experience and bears no impact on them being there for you wholly and solely for your ceremony.  Legally, Celebrants need to arrive no less than 20 minutes before the ceremony starts.  To me, that's cutting it very fine as there is people preparation to do.

Once your ceremony is completed, how long do you want the Celebrant to hang around for?  Make clear your expectations of them at the first meeting.  Straight after the ceremony you'll be heading off for photos, so a congrats, a goodbye, a selfie with you and then you should be left to enjoy family and friends on your day.

When you book in with a Celebrant, ask them if they have any other ceremonies on that day and if they dont, ask them if they wouldn't mind leaving at least a 2 hour gap before your ceremony - if anyone else want's to book them - so that you have peace of mind for your day.

Any advice on writing my vows to my wife-to-be?

Tara Rennie Marriage Celebrant

Nathan, as long as they are from the heart then you can't go wrong.  Your Celebrant would give you a few samples as a heads-up on the tone and feel of how you should write yours.  Around 10 lines maximum. I wish you all the best for your wedding day.

When should I start to think about hiring a Celebrant?

Tara Rennie Marriage Celebrant

Hi Carli,

Best to be in contact with a Celebrant as soon as you've locked in your date, venue and ceremony time.  Good Celebrants are, and love to be booked up in advance and for the popular months (Feb, March, October & November) it's best to be one of those couples who get their first choice of Celebrant.  As much forward planning as possible takes out the stress factor.
