About
I'm a true romantic at heart, because if love doesn't win in the end, what are we even living for? I stumbled into the world of weddings in 2014 when a friend asked me to be their MC and celebrant. I loved it so much, it quickly turned into my professional calling. With a background in acting and singing, I know how to engage a crowd, craft meaningful words, and lead unforgettable ceremonies. When I'm not celebrating love, you’ll find me surfing, snowboarding or out and about around Sydney.

I love people, simple.
I love meeting people from all walks of life and hearing their unique stories and what makes them love each other.
It’s such a privilege and honour for me to bring it all together on the day and really make your love shine. Sounds kitschy but that’s really what it’s all about - Facilitating your love and guiding you through all the legalities. I really enjoy bringing it all together and finding the ‘element’ that makes your relationship special.
I also have a background as an actor/singer/presenter so it’s natural for me being up there in front of all your family and friends, leading the ceremony and painting a picture, bringing your story to life.
Initially I started MC-ing friends weddings and always loved the vibe of them so it was a natural progression for me to become a celebrant.
I have now married well over 50 couples and find it such a privilege to work with so many wonderful couples.
With Marriage Equality I'm super excited for same sex couples to finally be able to tie the knot.
I use only the best brand sound equipment and will bring my battery powered speaker with cordless microphone.
The speaker is super powerful so we can use it for your music as well (walk down the aisle etc).
I normally operate the speaker myself via my watch or a friend/family member of yours can.
You can easily write me here (homepage, to the right ->), message, email or just call me to discuss the date of your wedding and the location so I can confirm if I'm available.
Then, we meet in person here in Sydney (when possible) or via Skype if you are interstate/overseas so we can get to know each other and I'll walk you thorugh all the bits and pieces and start creating your very own ceremony.
I have a wide network of wedding suppliers and experience so I'm always happy to help, point you in the right direction and guide you.
I arrive at the location at least 45 minutes before the start time of your ceremony so I have enough time to set up the speaker and talk to the event manager/ photographer for a quick brief.
After our first meeting I'll send you an email with all information we have discussed and an invoice for the deposit to confirm block out your date and time in my schedule.
Full payment is required at our next meeting prior to the ceremony.

Get Expert AdviceWhen I get married can I change my given name at the same time as I change my surname
My given name is currently Rebecca but I have only ever been called Bec, I am wondering when I get married can my celebrant register my name with births deaths and marriages as Bec (Husbands Surname) or do I need to apply to change my given name before the ceremony? Thank you.
Married by Andy - Celebrant & MC
Hi there Bec,
Great question and one that comes up quite a bit when people are thinking about their names after marriage in NSW.
When you get married in NSW, the only name change that can happen (through your marriage certificate you can order via Service NSW) is the surname.
You can:
You cannot change your given name (first name) through marriage. That means your celebrant can’t register “Bec” instead of “Rebecca” when lodging your marriage paperwork with Births, Deaths and Marriages (BDM). Your marriage certificate will always show the full legal name you had before marriage.
What you can do if you want “Bec” officially (and you casn do this anytime, no matter if you get married or not):
If you’d like your legal first name to be Bec (so your new name would be e.g. Bec [Husband’s Surname]), you’ll need to apply separately for a Change of Name through NSW Births, Deaths and Marriages, either before or after the wedding. Once approved, you’ll get a new birth certificate and can then use that alongside your marriage certificate to update your identity documents.
I guess, in everyday life, you can of course continue to use “Bec” socially and professionally without formally changing it, but for passports, licences, banks etc., only the legal name on your documents will be accepted. There you go :)
Now, when you're getting married?
Much love, Andy
will you incorporate some of my spirit into it
i want to do some saging
Married by Andy - Celebrant & MC
Sure, if the venue allows saging. I'm all for making ceremonies super personal for my couples. Happy to discuss.
Should we have signs at our ceremony to leave the front row vacant for immediate family?
I was thinking maybe this is tacky, but then maybe it's necessary. (Or am I really just overthinking it?) Someone suggested that this is the role of the celebrant - to ensure that it's family in the first row. Is that generally true?
Married by Andy - Celebrant & MC
Hi, you can do either. I've seen it many times that the front row had signs (make them small) so people won't sit there. It's pretty much common knowledge as well to leave the front row free for family so guests would normally not sit there either. Depending on how many chairs you have and family to sit in the front row you can decide as well. Speak to your celebrant if need be to manage this and let your family know as well where to sit. Hope it helps. Best, Andy
