About

After serving in the Australian Army 34 years, I felt I needed something new and very different. My husband and I settled in Promised Land and manage a BnB on our rural property. After attending a wedding and feeling the emotions evoked by the wonderful celebrant, I then embarked on becoming a celebrant myself. I have found being a celebrant exceptionally satisfying by helping couples create the wedding ceremonies of their dreams.

FAQ

A Marriage Celebrant helps you tailor a ceremony that suites you. They will officiate at the ceremony and ensure all the legalities are followed. They will also submit the required paperwork to Birth, Deaths and Marriages.

A Civil Celebrant ceremony is not restricted on the content of the ceremony, or where you want your ceremony. There are a few must haves in the legal area things that must be included however the rest is written for you to express who you both are.

Original Birth Certificate* and a photo ID such as a current driver’s licence or a Passport.

*Copies of Birth Certificates can be obtained from Birth Deaths and Marriage in the state of your birth. If born overseas a copy may be obtained from your Country's embassy

And if you have been married before - also bring with you;

If a widow or widower: Death Certificate of spouse.

*A copy may be obtained from Department of Births, Deaths and Marriages in the state that the death occurred.

If divorced: Decree Absolute of divorce or Certificate of divorce.

*A copy may be obtained from the ‘Family Court of Australia.’ In the state where the divorce occurred.

A Notice of Intended Marriage is filled out by the celebrant with all your personal information and once signed by all parties the document is considered lodged with the celebrant, normally the deposit is paid at this time. It must be signed no later than one month before the wedding date. The celebrant will then send it to Births, Deaths and Marriages along with your Official Marriage Certificate.

You can do this yourself through the Birth, Deaths and Marriages in state you were married in and you will be reuired to provide proof of identity. To assist you in one of the most busiest times your celebrant can order it for you when they submit the legal paperwork after your wedding. There will be the additional Birth, Deaths and Marriages fee.

November 2023

Biralee performed our wedding ceremony in April 2023 and she did such a fabulous job! Biralee was so Understanding when we had to postpone our wedding back in February 2023 due to having a baby! Biralee made the process so easy and explained everything to us in ways we understood. Biralee so kindly lent us items from her wedding supplies as well which really made our day look and feel the way we wanted it too. I cannot recommend her high enough. Her words in the ceremony were thoughtful and she spoke with confidence and love in her voice. Thank you Biralee, you made the best day of our lives feel just that more special 💕

Hello. I currently hold a Working Visa here in the UK. Could I go to Australia and get married?

My partner will be coming from Philippines. Can we possibly go to Australia and get married? Thank you.

Birralee King Marriage Celebrant

Hi, and congratulations. Yes you can get married in Australia but you will need to do a few legal things first. To start with you will need to sign a Notice of Intention for Marrige which must be done one month before the wedding. This can be done by one of you in the country you reside in.

Then another document the Declaration of no Impedimant needs to be signed before the actual ceremony, this is to say you are not married to anyone else.

Hope this helps for further information I recommend you reach out to a celebrant in the state you wish to marry.

I am a terrible public speaker. How can I get ready for my wedding ceremony?

Hi there. Was hoping for some advice on how to tackle ceremony nerves so I can get through my vows. I really want to write my own vows but have always been terrible at speaking in front of crowds. What can I do ahead of time and on the day?

Birralee King Marriage Celebrant

Hi congratulations on your upcoming wedding. The advice given so far is great the only thing I say to my couples is say the first word of your vows on the exhale.

Good luck and best wishes for you future together

My mum is very Catholic and wants me to have a Catholic priest at my wedding

However, my partner does not. Is there any way I could combine the two to keep both parties happy? I want some Catholic elements, but not the whole service.

Birralee King Marriage Celebrant

Its always very hard to make everybody else happy when it comes to your wedding. It is a day for you both to enjoy and make your promises to each other. A celebrant can add many things into the cermony such as blessings and prayers. The right celebrant can bring different elements to a ceremony that hopefully will satisfy you both on your day.
