Fun celebrants?

Looking for someone who can make our wedding unique and a bit more fun!

Sonia Hartman

Hi  Christiana, unique and fun ceremonies are my specialty. I’m about engaging your family and friends in a light hearted easy going and relaxed ceremony. Look forward to chatting with you to find out more about your special day.

What makes original wedding vows really stand out, in your opinion?

Sonia Hartman

The most stand out vows come from the heart epressing what you love about your partner and why you are marrying them.

I often suggest a couple write their vows separately and keep them 'secret' from each other. This often brings more meaning to their promises and sometimes a laugh (if they include a little lightheartedness) or a tear to the eye!! Family and frineds are always very connected to this moment! Of course the legal element must be included and can be said before or folowing the couples own words.

How long should my vows be?

Sonia Hartman

The vows are the most important part of your ceremony. I always encourage couples to write their own vows which must also include the legal element. The length of vows can vary but I would suggest no more than a couple of minutes each given that the couple will each be reading.

My partner won't be wearing a wedding ring. Does this make the "ring exchange" part of the ceremony seem awkward?

Hello, My partner won't be wearing a wedding ring. Does this make the "ring exchange" part of the ceremony seem awkward?

Sonia Hartman

There are many beautiful and individual elements to each wedding ceremony and it's not unusual for a couple to choose to have one ring. The 'ring ceremony' can still be warm and meaningful. Hope your big day is wonderful and amazing!!

Can you go without a rehearsal with bridal party?

Is a runsheet enough to coordinate everyone on the big day or are rehearsals necessary? If so what is the best approach for this?

Sonia Hartman

Hi Julia, a very good question. I have found that a printed rehearsal diagram works well where the bride and groom can see where they will stand and pencil in the the names/positions of the bidesmaids and groomsmen (and sometimes where guests will be sitting/standing) while at the same time running through how the ceremony will evolve on their day. Usually this is in my office when the B&G come to sign the declarations a week or two before the wedding. This always has a positive response from the B&G knowing how it will be on their day. I always ask that whoever is to do a reading to please come and introduce themselves at least 10mins prior to commencment of the ceremony.

All the very best for an amazing day!

how wacky can you get with your ceremony?

like in terms of rituals

Sonia Hartman

Many couples incorporate fun and 'whackiness' into their ceremony it's totally up to you. As a civil celebrant I'm here to facilitate your marriage and reflect the couples values and ideas as long as the legal elements are included - the Monitum to say 'I'm duly authorised to solomise marraiges.....' and the mandatory legal part of your vows. Enjoy your special day!
