Every part of my work is about sharing a story and I would love to tell yours for you. There are no rules and I am ready to get creative with your ideas. Whether it be a traditional Wedding with a little something different or a completely daring extravaganza. I can hardly believe I have been doing this for over 13 years now and I still absolutely love it :) Performing is my life and I am so lucky to be able to put my skills to such brilliant use and share in so many people's joy and celebration! I don't always sport the beard but I decided I wanted it for my own Wedding late last year which was sooooo much fun. I am a Dad and a Dog lover (how could you not be with a surname like mine?) Before you marry, Australian law requires that you complete a Notice of Intention of Marriage. This document must be lodged with me no less than one month and no more than eighteen months prior to your marriage ceremony.
You are required to produce your original Birth Certificate or authorised extract. If you were born overseas your Birth Certificate is preferred but if you can’t produce it then your passport will be accepted.
Note: An Australian passport can now be accepted as proof of birth. A statutory declaration can also be used if you were born overseas and cannot produce a Birth Certificate or passport.
I am located in Melbourne, close to the City in the Inner East. This is a central location and allows for easy access to all areas of Melbourne and I am also willing to travel to your venue if it is further afield .
If you have been divorced then I must sight an original copy of your Decri Absolute. If your previous spouse has died then the original copy of the Death Certificate is needed. These documents must be produced before your marriage can take place.
Also before your wedding you will need to sign a declaration stating that you believe there is no impediment to the marriage between yourself and your future husband/wife.
On your wedding day you will sign my wedding register and other documents. To complete this procedure you will need two witnesses who are both over the age of 18.

A bride can obtain a marriage certificate after the wedding from the office of Births Deaths and Marriages in the State in which she was married and apply to Vic Roads, Medicare, the Electoral Office etc to have her name changed on their records.
Whilst a valid marriage certificate will not change her name on her birth certificate / birth record, it would allow her to legally change her name on all of her identification documents.

We are considering having a hand fastening done in India before our wedding, for relatives there. We are concerned the beliefs behind the Indian ceremony may clash with our own, but I haven't been able to find much information. I don't want to commit until I know that I'm comfortable with it. Does anyone know if this ceremony is based in religion, or is it simply cultural?
How do I get around awkward clashes when seating guests?
I'm planning seating for my reception, but a few of my guests can't be seated together. We have 12 seats per (long) table - is it acceptable to seat these guests at the same table, far apart? I don't like catering for their disagreements, but I don't want a fight -even a small one - at my wedding.

Hi Erin,
Me again :) This is a really tough and common dilemma! I can't say I have a definitive solution but just thinking completely outside the box. What if at the time people arrive they had to draw a card from a bag/bowl/box.... which had a corresponding table and or seat number and that was their allocation. They could perhaps do this as couples? This would really mix things up and would entirely take the problem out of your hands as they would have no one to blame but fate if they don't like the person sitting next to them :)

Hi Erin,
Great Question. Hand Binding or Fasting is largely derived from Celtic traditions and was not essentially a religious ritual. In fact it was often an alternative to a religious ceremony when a member of the Clergy could not be reached or found to perform the Ceremony. It is as you asked something that also derives from the Native American Indian culture (One of my personal favourites for rituals & wording). The Native American Indian beliefs are very much Spiritual in that they believe every single part of nature has a spirit and therefore deserves and commands respect. I certainly wouldn't call this religious just beautifully human and natural. I am not specifically sure what the exact symbolism for the Hand Binding is in their culture but I am sure it would have been as simple as two spirits being bound together and therefore deserving of care, nurture, protection and respect as the two are now one. I think it would a beautiful choice for a Wedding Ceremony :)
