Winter wedding colour scheme

We are getting married in Ireland in November (height of winter) I had been thinking of navy for the bridesmaid dresses (2 bridesmaids) Would navy for the groomsmen too be too much? If so, what would you suggest?

Navy is a timeless and elegant choice for a winter wedding, and it works beautifully for both bridesmaids and groomsmen. If you’re worried about it being too much, here are a few ways to create contrast while keeping a cohesive, sophisticated winter colour scheme:

1. Navy Suits with Contrasting Accessories

  • Keep the groomsmen in navy suits but add contrasting ties, vests, or pocket squares in burgundy, deep green, or silver for a subtle distinction.
  • A black or dark charcoal bow tie can also elevate the look for a more formal feel.

2. Mix and Match Suit Colours

If you’d like a bit more variety:

  • The groom could wear a black or dark charcoal suit/tux, while the groomsmen wear navy, making the groom stand out subtly.
  • Alternatively, the groomsmen could wear dark grey suits with navy ties or vests to match the bridesmaids.

3. Seasonal Fabrics for a Winter Touch

Consider textured fabrics like velvet or wool blends to bring warmth and richness to the look—especially in Ireland’s winter chill.

Navy is a great choice, and with the right styling, it will look sophisticated and well-balanced. If you’d like help putting together the perfect look, reach out at hello@modusoperandisydney.com.au—we’d love to assist!
