That is the day old question, well that is for the aspiring bride to be!!!

MONEY

Unfortunately in the wedding industry, sometimes when a wedding vendor for example a florist hears the word ‘wedding’ may tend to put up their prices for the same set or arrangements for a daily expression of endearment.

What you have to consider is a well thought out budget of expenditure for your big day, as it is not usually going to be an inexpensive process, that way you can have allocated and thought out process where you would both want all your monies to be put towards. Some couples want to spend minimal and put their savings towards their first home and honeymoon. Others won’t cheapen out on the photography services as they fill this is the most keepsake thing they can take away for their big day. Each to their own!

When it comes to getting a DESIGNER (Haute Couture) for the bride to be, this style of craftsmanship is of the highest standard whereby the garment is made in various stages on her taking shape as she requests from the designated Designer. Usually consisting of exclusive imported materials such as French beaded laces, they are constructed in this process, so this is not an inexpensive process at all.

With “Ready to Wear” wedding gowns this is a process where they are made in bulk primarily from overseas where the labor is inexpensive, hence the price of the gowns are more often than not a lot cheaper than the other alternative of

Haute Couture, so really goes down to where the couples priorities lay in the sense of dollars put towards the dress attire.

TRUST ISSUE

If the bride to be is the nervous type, she may have trust issues as been burnt

previously from a past designer and can’t get her head around about having another dress piece designed, then maybe Haute Couture simply is too nerve racking to go through, whereby Ready to Wear is simpler method and more easily able to visualize the end product as it is there, ready with maybe some minor alterations to be applied.

TIMING

You may have only have a small number of months to organise your wedding due to unforeseen reasons, so with the really good Haute Couture establishments they usually require a t least a minimum of 6 months or in most cases a good 12 months notice as often the lace can take upto 6 months to produce let alone construct to the individual’s body.

Your heart may be set on a Haute Couture wedding dress, but you may only have the option of purchasing a Ready to Wear gown if the wedding is very soon!

SOCIAL

With the typical Ready to Wear gown there are so many of the same ~ why?

Well they are reproduced overseas by various companies with cheaper labor and often they are not the most desired amongst the brides that are wanting a wedding dress that stands out amongst the crowd like a Haute Couture wedding dress usually does provided it is constructed well with an individual flair.

Most of the wedding dresses that do go viral on social media are that Haute Couture and are drooled by at the bride to be, wanting to have something similar or even more extravagant.

CONCLUSION

Each to their own!!!

What ever you can afford or simply want to allocate your precious dollars to or it might be a time restraint or even a trust issue, will all determine which way you will lean towards whether it be a Ready to Wear or a Haute Couture wedding dress.

The pro's of getting your wedding gown custom made by a designer far outway the cons! A good designer can incorporate your own unique style into a beautifully made gown which highlights your best assets, flaters your shape and colouring, is in total proportion to your figure and makes you feel absolutely confident and beautiful on yoour big day......hard to top really! Most designers have samples you can try on and you can see what you are ordering before hand, you will know you have the right designer when you have a feeling of absolute trust and the excitement of being fitted and having the gown evolve into your dream is hard to beat! Make sure you check referances and work before deciding who you go with, a couture gown may seem to cost alot more than an off the rack gown at first glance althoough it's important to remember the pricing includes all fabrics and fittings, there are no hidden alteration charges like with off the rack gounds which often don't get taken into account when girls are purchasing ready to wear gowns and can run into hundreds of dollars or more. Couture gowns are made to fit exactly, made of quality fabrics, made to your exact requirements and made in Australia, from high quality materials, compared to the synthetic, made off shore alternative, value for money spent is incomparable!

Cons:

- it could be pricey, about 20-40% higher price than purchasing a dress

- the process might take about 6 months.

Pros:

- you have a unique dress made just for you

- anything can be changed to your liking - from the colour of the gown and small details to the cut, beading, type of lace etc.

- it fits you like a glove without alterations so it means you'll save anywhere between $500 and $1,500 on dress alterations

- it'll be YOUR dream dress and made exactly to your requirements
