Expert Advice

As a wedding professional, Aussie Wedding Shop offers expert advice to help couples plan their perfect day. Ask a question or read their expert advice.

Do we have to have favours for the guests?

Simply put no, but from past experiences, guests do look forward to receiving a little something on the day. Although they're a token of your thanks and appreciation for them sharing in your celebration, I must add favours have evolved considerably over the years. Popular options nowadays are practical small and inexpensive gifts, ones they'll have many memorable years of use. Keyrings, bottle openers, salt and pepper shakers, silver spoons or cheese knives. Have the best of both worlds and include decorative touches to your tables that also double up as their thank you gift. Place stunning silver wedding cake place card holders or mini silver photo frames at each guests setting. There's name card holders styled for contemporary, traditional and rustic weddings. Favours can reflect your colour theme, personality or be incorporated amongst your table decorating, either way,  your guests will be thrilled to bits to recieve one.

How do I ask my friends "officially" to be bridesmaids?

I have planned a box of cute little things they will love, and have printed a little card but am not sure how this process works. Do I just hand it over?

Hi Gina,

We asked ourselves that exact question and came up with a fabulous solution. When you have your gal pals all to yourself, present them with a gift that pops that all important question for you! They're gorgeous boxes that say on the outside 'Will You Be'....and upon opening they reveal the surpise...'My Bridesmaid' or 'Maid Of Honour'.  You can fill them with all sorts of goodies like some details you have collected already towards your big day, jewellery they'll wear on the day or perhaps a little something sweet they may like to indulge in.... They're a memorable and practical gift that your girlfriends or family will  cherish forever and here's the best part, they won't break into your much needed wedding fund either as they're under $10.

How many extra bomboniere should I get?

I am inviting 60, 50 have rsvp'd yes :)

This is a great question that we get asked often. For many brides they find it unfortunate that they can't invite everyone to their wedding as there simply has to be a cut off point at some stage. With regards to the uninvited guests on your big day, you may find some could arrive at your ceremony and still share in your happiness. Perhaps those who are unable to attend such as friends, family, neighbours or work collegues would be tickled pink to recieve a thoughtful momento as in your weddinng bomboniere. Some find it a lovely gesture to offer one to those who have played a helpful role in creating the day of your dreams. Here's a starting point for you to work out your extras. Going from past experiences most brides usually have 10-15 on hand for after the event.

is it worth giving bomboniere if only half takes theirs home?

Thank you for your question. Definitely yes. Your thank you gift to friends and family shows your appreciation that they shared your special day and for your gift. Should you have prior concerns that bomboniere may get left behind, perhaps a shared favour between couples may be the answer.

how much per person should i spend for wedding favours?

Firstly, may I say congratulations on your engagement! Tis an exciting time indeed planning for your Big Day.

Our brides spend anywhere from $2 to $5 per guest. The amount you spend for you guest's thank you gifts could be determined by how many guests will be attending, perhaps your wedding theme or colour scheme, a practical alternative or a traditonal favour. No matter how much you spend, rest assured your family and friends are going to love and appreciate the time and effort your favour will offer.

Should you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to ask as I am only too happy to help.

Happy wedding planning....

I dont want to gift my friends and family candles, are there any other bomboniere options?

nothing cliche or expensive please

There are endless ideas for your wedding favours. Perhaps you're following a sedding day theme or colour scheme or adore edible treats tucked into small contemporary boxes or bags. Go natural with seeds, plants, jams or perhaps honey. If your a practical bride, you may like keyrings, bottle openers, glasses or even better, have place card holders at each guests table setting. They look fabulous on the night and are oh so useful to hold photos or notes for years to come. The gift that keeps giving.....Check out all the wonderful Bomboniere suppliers on the Easy Weddings Website....heaps of inspiration and great ideas to suit all budgets.... Do I hand out bomboniere? Or do they just sit on a table to collect?

Hi,

Generally, bomboniere are placed at each guests table setting. This way, not only do they enhance your table decorating, should you choose a place card holder as your favour, you have now incorporated their gift and name card all in one. Bit of a win win! As another alternative, I have also seen at wedding receptions the bomboniere placed in uniform rows on a table, popped into a basket or presented on decorative trays for each guest to take one at the end of the evening. Either way, both ideas look fabulous, especially in your photography.

What are good bomboniere ideas for the male guests?

We are unsure what to do for the male guests.

Your choice of bomboniere for your guests is your way to say thank you and there are a few ways you could go about this. Firstly, should your budget not stretch for individual gifts for everyone, perhaps one thoughtful favour per couple may be for you, particularly if you're choosing a slightly more dearer option. Another great idea is to provide each guest the same bomboniere of your choice, whether that be a practical, edible, live or decor option, whichever, they'll look fabulous at your reception enhancing your table decorating flair. Your favour may even match your colour theme. Should your wedding be near the coast, think an aquatic theme or a bush wedding, how about country twist. With clever thought, you could provide your female guests an entirely different bomboniere to your male guests. Perhaps these ideas could be a reflection from the bride and groom, your favourite past time or hobby you both share , your favourite music or a special place you've visited. Practical is always another popular option. Not only is this type of gift useful to own, it will always be that timely reminder from your special day they helped you to celebrate. Some brides just can't go past the traditional tulle and almonds while others love to fill favour boxes with some delicious goodies for guests to enjoy afterwards. With keeping all these ideas in mind, I know as you browse the many options available from our bomboniere experts at Easy Weddings, you'll find the one that's just perfect for you and the day of your dreams...........Happy wedding planning....
