Susie and Barry’s intimate Pier 10 wedding

For Susie and Barry, marriage was not initially on the radar. Having both navigated marriages previously, they were content with a life already filled with travel, laughter, and a deep, natural companionship.
After meeting on a dating app and building a life together, marriage wasn’t exactly on the agenda. “We were not chasing something new; we were celebrating what already is,” Susie shares. So when Barry proposed, it completely caught her off guard, in the best way.
They planned a wedding that felt true to them: “intimate, romantic, and effortlessly elegant,” with just 23 guests travelling from across Australia and Canada. By the end of the celebrations, “it felt like one joyful, united family.”
Pier 10 Winery on the Mornington Peninsula delivered the perfect setting, relaxed, refined, and surrounded by vines. Guests watched the couple say their vows on the lawn before easing straight into oysters, cocktails, and golden-hour mingling. “We wanted a celebration centred on love, connection, and meaningful moments rather than scale,” they explain, and the flow of the day reflected exactly that.
Dinner moved inside for a candlelit reception built around one long table, encouraging conversation and plenty of laughter. The food was a standout, “guests are still talking about it,” while the energy shifted effortlessly from heartfelt to high-spirited as the night went on.
From a surprise proposal to a wedding that felt warm, personal, and completely unforced, Susie and Barry’s day was proof that sometimes the best things arrive when you’re not overthinking them, just enjoying what you’ve already found.
We envisioned a wedding that felt intimate, romantic, and effortlessly elegant. We wanted a celebration centred on love, connection, and meaningful moments rather than scale. From the beginning, our priority was to create a day that felt warm and inclusive, where every guest felt truly part of something special.
