QR (Quick Response) codes have become part of our social fabric as a streamlined and contactless way to do business. The pandemic introduced QR code check-ins and contactless ordering at bars and restaurants. While we no longer need to check in everywhere, businesses can still leverage the technology that consumers are now accustomed to, to improve the customer journey.

Here are some ways QR codes can help wedding businesses to simplify the planning process for their couples, and potentially help convert leads.

Where can wedding suppliers use QR codes?

QR codes can provide more information about the wedding product or service quickly, straight to the couple’s mobile device. Displaying physical QR codes at an expo or event, presentation, at a physical shop or place of business, or even on a vehicle, can be a more sustainable alternative to business cards, flyers or other printed collateral, saving you money as well.

Dynamic QR codes also offer excellent tracking and analytic capabilities. If your analytics are correctly set up, QR codes can be a valuable data source to track engagement and determine the campaign’s effectiveness. For example, a link that leads couples to your contact page can be traced back to learn how many visitors arrived there from a particular source or promotion, like a business card at a specific wedding expo.

There are a few websites that offer free QR Code generators, including Canva – which we use, so have a browse to see what works for you. Some even allow you to add your logo.

How to use QR codes for marketing your wedding business

Display QR codes at events and expos, include them on printed or digital collateral or add them to your business cards to hand out at the end of your meetings to:

1. Direct couples to your website or a landing page

Scanning a QR code can make it easier to direct couples to pertinent information about your product or service. This can be particularly beneficial if you’re meeting in person or showcasing your business at a wedding expo or trade fair.

2. Promote a call to action

A QR Code can lead potential clients straight to your enquiry from, availability calendar, or booking page. You might pass along a business card with a QR code to set up a meeting when they’re ready to take the next step in their planning journey. Make it easy for couples to book a meeting or wedding with you, without them having to navigate your website to find the booking form.

3. Download your information kit or wedding guide

Again, this direct link streamlines the process for couples, increasing your chances of them reading it and taking the next step.

4. Offer a discount or incentive

A QR code might link to a promotional code for a discounted service, or freebie like a complementary add-on if they book you, to incentivise potential clients to fill out your contact form. You can also alter the QR code’s URL when you want to test a new promotion.

5. Request payment

A QR code allows money transfers without needing cash, a card, or manually enter account numbers. It’s a simpler way for the client to pay, reduces the risk of error and protects them from phishing sites.

6. Ask for a review

Asking couples to leave a review can be time-consuming and ineffective. Instead, consider adding a QR code to your couple’s ‘thank you’ pack after the wedding to link customers directly to your Easy Weddings storefront to leave a review.

7. Network with other wedding pros

QR codes were used at almost every presentation we saw at last year’s Wedding MBA in Las Vegas, so we’ve been using them in all our webinars and other presentations since. Attendees scan the code on the screen to learn more about the speaker or download a resource and potentially enter an email nurture stream.

The Linkedin app also generates a unique QR Code for other contacts to scan to connect with you. Find yours by opening the app and tapping on the search bar. You can either have contacts scan your phone, or download the QR code and share it with contacts digitally.
