Byron Bay hen’s party: The ultimate long weekend
Nestled in the heart of the Northern Rivers is Byron Bay. Known for its white sandy beaches, incredible tropical hinterlands with waterfalls, a hippy laid-back vibe, there’s no better way to celebrate with your girlfriends at a Byron Bay hen’s party.
We’ve put together the ultimate itinerary for the best long weekend getaway. From Friday morning when you touch down to Sunday evening when you have to pack your bags, this is a Byron Bay hen’s party that will be one for the history books.
Why a Byron Bay hen’s party?
Byron Bay delivers the perfect mix of wellness, wine, and a little wildness. Whether your bride is after chill time, coastal walks, cocktails or massages (or all of the above), this long weekend plan has you covered, without over-scheduling the fun.
Friday: Arrive and unwind
Touch down at either Gold Coast or Byron Ballina Airport, and let the good times begin. For accommodation, there are a few options. Swell Hotel was once a roadside motel for weary travellers, but has been reimagined into an adults-only cosmopolitan hotel with no detail not considered. Right in the centre of town, it’s a walk away from the hotspots and beach.

Once bags are dropped and the bubbly’s popped it’s time for a spot of lunch, don’t you think? Head to The Farm for a long, leisurely lunch at Three Blue Ducks. The grounds are on a small farm (as the name suggests) as well as a macadamia forest and an incredible sunflower garden. The food? Well, it’s nothing short of spectacular. Think fresh produce, delicious wine, and the perfect setting to toast the weekend ahead.
It’s always a tasty treat at Three Blue Ducks.
Finish your lunch with a wander around Bangalow, stopping in at You Beauty for a cocktail and some small plates for the late-night munchies.
Saturday: Move, melt and mingle
Is it a trip to Byron if you don’t start at least one of the days with a classic Byron ritual: the Cape Byron Lighthouse walk. What’s not to love? Get the blood flow going, take in the incredible coastal views, and if you’re lucky and on alert, you could spot a dolphin or two.
After that little sweat sesh, it’s time to relax. And we mean relax! Located in Byron’s trendy industrial estate is the now cult-status Comma. This day spa will accommodate all your relaxation needs, with group massages and facials on the menu. And if you can’t decide, why not do both? Finish off with a stop off in the beautiful boutique bath house and spa where you can bathe, soak, scrub, sweat, plunge and just be immersed. You’ll feel like a new person.

From here, a spot of shopping. There’s no point going to the industrial estate without looking at some of the local labels, from ultra-cool girl Lottie Hall to the most elevated basics at Zulu and Zephyr. You can spa til you float and shop til you drop.

With all that relaxing and shopping, you’ve probably worked up an appetite. It’s time for late lunch or early dinner at Raes on Wategos. A part of the fabric of Byron, Raes Dining Room is a two-hatted restaurant that celebrates the finest flavours of the surrounding region. Set on world-famous Wategos beach, this is a time to get a little dolled up and enjoy an incredible meal with your closest friends.

From here it’s time to visit one more Byron haunt that you just can’t skip – the Beach Hotel (aka the Beachy). It’s here that every age group, every Byron local and visitor stops by for a couple too many drinks and a dance to some incredible local live music.
Cocktails, live music, ocean breeze—it’s Byron nightlife at its best.
Sunday: Stretch and send off
No better way to close out the weekend than with a group class at Haum Space. Gentle movement, deep breaths, and a moment to reflect on the incredible weekend you’ve just had. After this epic stretch sesh, a juice at Vagabond is definitely on the cards, to atone for your sins the night before!
It’s almost time for this incredible weekend to come to an end. So slowly pack up, and check out, but before your final au revoir to the area, you have time for one last scenic drive inland. Through the hinterlands and lush rainforest, just 40 minutes inland is the breathtaking Eltham Hotel. A relaxed, retro pub, the food is worth the drive itself, but is complemented by the cool–country charm and epic scenery.
