On a beautiful Wednesday afternoon in Sydney, Catriona and Garry exchanged vows on the anniversary of their engagement. Their fun (and sparkly!) celebration made them the winners of $2,500 to go towards their upcoming honeymoon.

In the beautiful waterfront suburb Glebe, and under the shadows of the spectacular Anzac Bridge, Catriona and Garry said “I do.” The perfect Sydney day accompanied the couple, who had chosen the date to be just shy of NSW’s Labour Day weekend so that their family and friends from all around the world could come and join in the celebration.

Although the wedding fell on a Wednesday, people took the Thursday and Friday off to make it an extra-long weekend and spend time with the couple. The date’s significance, the anniversary of their engagement, meant that this mid-week party could go until the weekend.

Perhaps the standout of the day was in lieu of the traditional wedding cake, this couple used an Australian delicacy tower instead. That’s right, a lamington tower stood tall, a quirky take on the dessert portion of the wedding.

The day went off without a hitch, in part due to the suppliers that Catriona and Garry used.

For her hair and makeup, Catriona used Kerry Howell Makeup and Hair, whom she says she would use again any day. “Kerry was fabulous! She really goes the extra mile to make sure you’re comfortable on the day. Her work is absolutely stunning!” The bride gushed.

To wed the couple, Johan the Celebrant donned his most colourful suit. For the couple, he was the perfect choice to trust with the momentous task of marrying them. “Johan was incredible! Such a delight to deal with, in the run up to the wedding and on the day itself. Hands down would recommend him to anybody!”

Divon Photography captured each special moment for their memory books, which Catriona and Garry were especially excited about. They said, “Franky and his team absolutely killed it on the day! Such a fun guy to have part of the day. I highly recommend his services.”

For the transport on the day HF Wedding Car Hire was used, which the couple would certainly use again. “Such a great service – am so jealous that I can’t hire you on the daily!” they said.

For the all-important fresh blooms, Flowerun certainly delivered on its promises (and went above!). “Keren is very passionate about her work. Her flowers are beautiful pieces of art. She really goes above and beyond to understand your vision. Thank you for the lovely flowers!”

For the happy couple, sharing their wedding experience wasn’t just about sharing the love. It has paid off, with them winning Easy Weddings’ quarterly competition and a healthy $2,500 straight towards their South African honeymoon, planned for October this year. What will that money go towards? “Extra wine! And more experiences!” laughs Catriona. We couldn’t think of anything better!
