What happens in case of bad weather?

All of our reception venues are indoors. In the case of an outdoor ceremony, your coordinator will work with you upon booking to arrange a suitable wet-weather backup.

What is the cancellation/postponement policy?

Notification of cancellation MUST be in writing Notice of more than 120 days – all monies are refunded provided the room is rebooked with a new event and a deposit paid. Notice of 60 to 120 days – 50% of monies is retained by Customs House, 50% of monies is refunded provided the room is rebooked with a new event and a deposit paid. Notice of 7 to 60 days – all monies are retained by Customs House. Notice of less than 7 days – all monies are retained by Customs House plus you will be charged for 75% of catering costs and room hire associated with your reception.

An Event Coordinator is on duty Monday to Friday with the occasional Saturday for site inspections. Appointments are required.

Can I bring my own suppliers?

What is included in your packages?

Our packages are all inclusive of venure hire, food and beverage package for up to a 5 hour duration. There are some upgrades available to the packages, however, everything is clearly listed in our wedding compendium. There are no hidden costs.

Do you have parking on site?

Strictly no parking on site. Limited access is provided to off load equipment and supplies required for events.

Can we BYO food or drinks?

All catering is executed in-house by our award-winning team of talented chefs (with the exception of your wedding cake which is required to be made by a professional cake maker or supplier with an approved BCC food business licence). We do have an extensive menu and beverage offering. Unfortunately, we do not cater to specific cultural cuisines, however we do cater for all pre-arranged dietary requirements.

Are there any restrictions on decorations?

Due to the heritage nature of Customs House certain restrictions are applicable:

No items are to be pinned, glued, taped or attached in any way to the walls, floors or ceilings.
The use of helium balloons, bubbles, rice, confetti and indoor fireworks is prohibited.
LED candles and tealights ONLY.
Haze effect/fog machine may be used with prior approval by your Event Coordinator. A $500 isolation fee applies.

We recently had our son’s wedding at Customs House. Although weather prevented the ceremony from going ahead outside, the indoor ceremony was absolutely perfect. Reception was also in the River Room. The planning in the lead up to the wedding and everything on the day was exceptional and we couldn’t have asked for more. Food was beautiful and many comments from our guests. We highly recommend. Customs House was phenomenal! We were so fortunate enough to secure the River Room which opened onto the River Terrace over looking Brisbane River and the Story Bridge. Our wedding was small - only 40 guests. Sharon, the event co-ordinator with Customs House was so easy to work with and accommodated all our needs to make sure our day was memorable. From the moment guests arrived, the staff showed professionalism and a high quality of service. The Bride was greeted by Matt with a glass of Champagne. The food and beverage service staff were polite and attentive to each guest. A special mention to the quality and quantity of food - the menu selection made it difficult to choose, but everything we chose was of superior quality and delicious. I cannot thank the team at Customs House for their brilliant service.
