What is included in the venue hire?

BABALOU WEDDINGS AND EVENTS

• Exclusive use of our ocean front venue, own private bar and amenities

• Events Manager to coordinate all aspects of your wedding reception

• Dedicated Function Supervisor and Events Team

• Use of Babalou’s furniture includes: custom made wooden trestle tables

with white rattan chairs, set with white linen napkins, cutlery & glassware.

Peacock chairs, interlaced wire high bars with rattan stools, cane lounges,

decorative cushions, grand piano & tea light candles

• Bose in house music system, roaming mic, lectern, projector and

screen, and a 50” plasma TV

• Large dance floor area

• Festoon lighting

• Full reverse cycle air conditioner

• Wedding cake cut and presented on platters for self service

• Licensed until 12am

Or upgrade to our premium room hire and receive all of the above plus

fresh greenery in glass vase centrepieces, printed menus, rattan placemats, variety of candles,

wishing well, fairy light backdrop, napkin rings.

Where do people hold their ceremony when booking a reception at Babalou?

BABALOU WEDDINGS AND EVENTS

Babalou offers two ceremony packages (one indoor and one outdoor).

Our indoor ceremony is located in the venue and includes Babalou arbour, 20 white rattan chairs, 2 peacock chairs with signing table, seagrass aisle runner and Babalou bar available for use for bar tabs, cash bars and beverage packages.

Our outdoor ceremony is located at Rowan Robinson Park (across the road from Babalou, 2 min walk) and includes booking the park via Tweed Council, Babalou arbour, 20 white rattan chairs, 2 peacock chairs with signing table, seagrass aisle runner, fruit-infused water station and antipasto cone canapés. Babalou is also held as your wet weather back-up free of charge. 

Other areas include Kingscliff Beach, Lions Park, Salt Village Lawn, the Boat House, Cudgen Creek, Santai Resort, Hastings Point, Cabarita Point and Fingal Headland.  These options are arranged by you and will require a Tweed Shire Council permit which can be located on their website. 

Is there accommodation close by?

We have some fantastic accommodation options; some in walking distance to us and some about a 10 minute drive.  From budget motels, tourist parks, air bnb’s, premium holiday homes, self-contained apartments to bigger resorts such as Paradiso, Peppers, Mantra and Santai. The larger resorts will even do a group rate for your guests if booking with us.

Are you able to suggest any suppliers?

Yes we have a whole list of amazing suppliers that have worked with our venue on many occasions and that we highly recommend.  Upon booking you will be sent a digital copy of all of these to have a look though and see what best fits your style and budget.

How do we book and what happens after we book?

To confirm your special day with us, we do require a signed contract & 30% deposit within 7 days of confirming. Once these are received, you will be put in touch with your Wedding Coordinator who will be on hand over email or phone and will work with you to create a run sheet and floor plan for the day.  They will be available to discuss your menu selections, assist with suppliers and ceremony suggestions and send timeline proposal as well as be there as support along the way.  Once the run sheet is completed and confirmed you can use this document to pass onto your suppliers and MC to work from on the day/night.  The same document will be used by our operations team.  Your coordinator will be there on the day to liaise with your suppliers and assist with any last minute items before meeting and greeting you as you arrive to your reception.  Once this takes place our operations team led by the functions supervisor will run your event till the end of the night

Is there parking?

Yes there is 50 car spaces at the Kingscliff Beach Hotel and as well no timed parking along Pearl Street and Marine Parade from 2pm through to 9am the following morning. 

Can we book a space at the hotel the next day for a post wedding celebration?

Yes this is a very popular option for our couples! If available we can book an area at the Kingscliff Beach Hotel, and as a Babalou Wedding you will not be required to meet a minimum spend but we have a wide variety of platters and a bar tab option that you may wish to include with the booking.  The hotel has entertainment from 7pm Friday and Saturday and Sunday from 3pm.

What time is your curfew?

At Babalou, we are really fortunate to have a 12am curfew.  Last drinks are at 11.20pm.  Event bookings are for 7 hours.

Do we need to collect our things at the end of the night?

No, our team will put these aside for you to collect the following morning between 10am and 11am.

Do you cater for dietaries?

Yes we absolutely do.

Dietary requirements do need to be advised to your wedding coordinator when final details are due along with their name and where they are sitting (for sit down style receptions). For cocktail receptions we will need to arrange for either your MC or the guest themselves to advise staff on the night so the appropriate food reaches them. 

 

Is there transportation in the area?

There are local taxi companies available and there are uber drivers in the area as well. There are also some local buslines that drop guests opposite the venue. The Kingscliff Beach Hotel also has a Courtesy Bus that is available to Babalou patrons to share with our hotel guests. This is available to get guests home and the end on the night for all Friday and Saturday bookings.  Some of our couples have arranged their own private buses as well.

Do you have wheelchair facilities?

Yes we have a lift that leads up into our venue then once inside our space is all one level/flat.  We have a disabled toilet as well.  We would also suggest the best possible seating spot for these guests once it comes time to design the floor plan to ensure maximum comfort and ease. 

Are kids/minors allowed in the venue?

Yes kids/minors are more than welcome.  We have a 9.30PM house curfew although can be flexible here.  We have kids menu’s and non alcoholic beverage options.

Will my guests go away hungry?

No, we always get compliments on how amazing the food is and how big the portions are, regardless of whether it is a sit down meal or cocktail style.  We also have many additional add on options available so you can tailor your menus to suit.

Do you offer any specials or can you be flexible if we have a strict budget?

We do often have some wonderful seasonal specials and can offer great discounts for weddings held Monday - Thursday.  We always do our best to be flexible where possible - all you have to is ask!
