Looking for ideas on some good photo locations around the Hobart area, and if council approval is required for places such as the Botanical Gardens if we were to opt for such locations.

Hi Emilia, I know that the Hobart Harbour area is very picturesque and I think would look very unique for wedding formal photos. Sunset and night time formal shots would look awesome with the city lights, boats at the dock and You and Hubby dressed to impress. In regards to the surrounding areas I would advise to think about using the majestic old buildings ( Building Archways and Entrance areas) as a backdrop for a modern feel to your wedding photos.
In regards to the Botanical Gardens, yes please speak to the council regarding getting permission to use the gardens for photos I know that in Adelaide Botanical Gardens (South Australia) you have to book a year in advance for the date and time. This is because they don't want your wedding activities to disturb others enjoying the gardens. And if you think you might be able to get around this issue-- trust me others have tried and what ends up happening is park rangers find out and they can fine you.
I hope this helps.
