That’s completely normal—and honestly, most of my couples feel that way at first. My approach is designed to help you relax and just be yourselves, so nothing feels forced. I'll aim to have you posed as little as possible throughout the day, the less you're thinking about the camera, the better. I have found that movements like walking, dancing, laughing etc. are the best way to capture beautiful moments.

You’ll receive personal usage rights, meaning you can print and share your images freely. Commercial use requires permission.

I’m a wedding photographer who believes the best moments are the ones you don’t plan. I focus on capturing genuine emotions, quiet glances, and all the in-between details that make your day unique. Do you travel for weddings?

Yes! I love destination weddings. Travel fees may apply depending on the location.

Can we request specific shots?

Of course. I welcome shot lists for family portraits and important moments. I am more than happy to work with anything you would like to shoot and make some magic happen.

How many photos will we receive?

You can expect approximately 40–80 edited images per hour of coverage

What is your photography style?

My approach is candid and documentary-focused. I capture real moments as they naturally unfold—nothing overly posed or forced. The goal is to tell the honest story of your day, just as it felt.

Do you pose us at all?

I’ll gently guide you when needed (especially during portraits), but I keep things relaxed and natural. Think movement, prompts, and real interaction rather than stiff posing. The best photos come when both the client and photographer are comfortable so my aim will be to allow you to be yourselves as much as possible and capture you being you.

James was an incredible photographer! He was super friendly and made everyone feel instantly comfortable. Because of that, our photos were relaxed, natural, and candid. I was a little bit nervous about engaging a wedding photographer having watched friends be herded around like cattle at their own weddings by over zealous linen overall wearing, six cameras strapped to their harness photographers and seeing the stress that frankly would taint their meat. James was not like this. He was relaxed from the get go when we first met to discuss what we wanted. He listened and picked up on our general vibe for the wedding. We made a rough plan and it was clear that he was open to most ideas and would steer us in the right direction. On our wedding day he was directive when he needed to be without being abrasive. He made great suggestions for photos but didn't push them if we said no, there was no ego to contend with on the few occasions we weren't up for his generally excellent ideas. The candid photographs of friends and family from the ceremony and reception are some of our favourites and James clearly interacted with everyone in a way that kept them at ease like we were. If things don't work out with my current wife I would definitely engage James for a second wedding. Would I instigate a divorce to have him photograph a second wedding for me? Maybe. I would definitely recommend James if you are looking for quality photography and to work with someone who is going to keep you relaxed on your wedding day.

We had the absolute pleasure of having James Griffin photograph our wedding on July 8th, 2025, and we truly could not be happier with our experience. James has an incredible ability to capture the day from a guest’s perspective. Those candid, in-between moments we might have otherwise missed or not had the chance to fully take in. Looking back through our photos felt like reliving the entire day in the most genuine and meaningful way. He provided us with such a wide variety of beautiful images that it was honestly hard to choose which ones to share or print, every photo felt special. We also loved that he captured so many of our guests, which made it so meaningful to share those moments with our friends and family afterward. Most importantly, James is a dear friend, and having his warm, friendly, and calming presence with us throughout the day made such a difference.
