You can absolutely create a beautiful, atmospheric wedding with long tables, candles, and fruit without spending a fortune. Here are some ideas to keep it elegant but budget-friendly:

  • Long Tables – Use simple trestle tables and plain hired tablecloths (or see if you can purchase cheap tablecloths locally)
  • Candles – Mix pillar candles, taper candles, and tea lights in bulk. Place them in simple glass holders or even recycled jars and bottles. Grouping candles together at different heights instantly creates a luxe look.  Do you know anyone that might have old candles?
  • Fruit as Décor – Look out for seasonal fruit thats the chepest - or possibly visit a market where you might get it cheper? (Rusty market in Cairns drastcially reduces everything on as Sunday afternoon)  Think grapes, pomegranates, citrus, or apples - whatever is abundant and colourful.
  • DIY Touches
    • Use mismatched plates and glassware (borrow, thrift, or hire) to add to the charm
    • Place fruit at each setting as a name card holder or favour (like a peach with a tag)

Hope that helps :-)

Kind regards

As a caterer I suggest doing shared feasting platters down the tables - not only does it do the job of filling your guests, it can also be decoration. Speak to your caterer about provifing generous serves on each platter, garnishes can get creative, and consider sourcing platters in line with your aesthetic - perhaps your caterer has, or you can source yourselves - eg Kmart has very afforable good looking options.

Hi

There are a few different ways to approach this. To start with, hiring instead of buying could be a great way to save some money.

We also recommend putting together a vision board to help bring your ideas to life. If you’re looking for inspiration, feel free to check out our socials:
