Festoon lights or a marquee?

Which one is easier? Or cheaper?

Both, really — as they serve different purposes. A marquee provides practical coverage, especially important for wet weather, while festoon lights add atmosphere and style.

Some hire companies offer the option of hiring a marquee frame only, which is often used specifically for hanging festoon lights — giving you structure without the full cover.

So, depending on your venue and the vibe you're going for, you might find that using both together works best!

Hi there,

This is a tricky question as it really depends on how many lights your installing so hard to compare. It also depends on the size or the Marquee your after.

We have a range of fairy lights and festoon lights that create a magical atmosphere and we would be happy to give you a quote. Please feel free to contact us when you have a moment.

Many  thanks,

Natalie

If you’re comparing an open-sky setup with overhead festoon lighting versus a marquee over the same space, then festoon lights with lighting poles would definitely be the more cost-effective option.

That said, a marquee offers protection from the elements—like wind and rain—which can be a big factor depending on the time of year and your event location.
