It totally depends of the style of your wedding reception. It is your wedding and if that's what you want to do - go for it!

Just confirm with the venue beforehand that they are okay with this and where you plan on doing it. For example, if it is outdoors or inside. You don't want to end up with a surprise capet cleaning bill after the wedding. Perhaps a white drop sheet to protect the floor and furnishings would be a good idea.
