Anynoe can be a witness in Australia. You require 2 people at least 18 years, they don't need to be Australian citizens or residents of Australia.

some great answers below .... also keep in mind the 2 x witnesses need to be able to hear the ceremony take place (consider any hearing impairments) and be able to understand what is said in English.  Best wishes, Andrew

the only requirement is two people over the age of 18. So a ceremony has a minimum of five people involved and I usually help my couples find someone. Otherwise you can ask people who live near you, work with you, You never know it might start a friendship with them

Hi,

You've had lots of responses to your question about witnesses for your wedding paperwork. Now your big question is where do you want to have your wedding? There are so many fantastic places to choose from. Where will you be staying? For a small wedding, you can keep the costs down but still have a ceremony that is both lovely and legal. Good luck!

Your question is most reasonable and the answer is easy: anyone aged 18 or over can be witness at your wedding - even a stranger! I hope this frees you up to have a wonderful celebration in this wonderful country, Australia!

HI! Yes, as everyone has said, your witnesses can be organised  by your friendly Celebrant. The only legal requirement is that they are over the age of 18 years.  :-) Good Luck.

That's a question often asked but the simple answer is anyone who is over the age of 18 years of age and present at the Ceremony.

Any two people over 18 will do the trick. I have used random strangers on more than one occasion!

Your celebrant will be able to organise witnesses for you. By law in Australia, two witnesses are required, one for each party being married. The witnesses need to be at least 18 years old, and available for being present at the wedding ceremony.

For couples from overseas being married in Australia, I have frequently organised friendly faces to come to the ceremony and be witnesses. And everyone that I have ever asked has always been honoured and delighted to do so.
If I may be of any further help, please let me know. Best wishes!

I can organise witnesses for you. Just let me know when your date is and I can book them in for your wedding.

Thanks for asking.  Have a great day
