If you wanted someone specific I think some money towards the travel and accommodation unless they fly down in one day.  But that would need to be negotiated

Hi there

Yes, certainly. What a wonderful opportunity it is for a celebrant to be involved in a 'destination wedding'!

The details etc are discussed in meetings beforehand. As the previous celebrants have stated, we can only officiate at weddings within Australia which luckily includes the beautiful Qld islands.

All the very best with your planning..

Yes if transport and accommodation and out of pocket  expenses  was paid for and a rate for performing  wedding  was negotiated.

Why wouldent any celebrant want to do this for a couple.

Absolutely!  What is not to love about that?  Of course the cost of the travel would be at the couple's expense.

A destination wedding is always fun! Many of us who are prepared to travel will do them. As everyone else has said, the cost of travel & accommodation would need to be discussed & factored in to the fees, and yes, for it to be an official marriage the destination would need to be within Australia.

It's a terrific idea to have a celebrant that you have made the right connection with to come along to your destination, rather than use someone you haven't necessarily met at the venue. I believe that that connection is so important for any wedding, so when you've found the right person.... stick with them!

Certainly most celebrants would fly to a destination to officiate the celebrations. I have travelled from Adelaide to Townsville to make the celebrations A Special Day to remember, and have another celebration coming up in North Queensland.

Most couples either arrange the stay close to the venue themselfes, or it can be incorperated in the price of the celebrant

As your previous celebrants have reiterated most would love to travel to a new destination. The matter of cost would need to be clearly noted so that all are aware of the expenses, and who would be responsible for the booking of accommodation and flights/vehicle costs if driving.

As Australian celebrants are not authorised to perform overseas however if your destination is OS, and... you did have a celebrant in mind you could be married legally in Australia by your celebrant of choice. This need not be a lavish affair and then have your celebration ceremony overseas.  You may even have your celebrant write the ceremony to be presented. Mindful this will all come at a cost to you.

Best wishes

Hello how are you,

i have flown to a number of different destinations to do weddings and have worked out costs a couple of ways.

If we are due a holiday i am more than happy to have my air fare covered, and we pay for our own accomodation etc.

If on the other hand that is not the case, i will factor into the price an airfare and accomodation. I dont ever factor in food as i have to eat regardles as to whether i am at home or anywhere else.

Hope this answers your question

Kind regards

Lesley

Yes, sounds like great fun, just so long as the "destination" is in Australia.

If it were overseas, a Celebrant could present a Committment Ceremony or Renewal of Vows but it would not be a legal wedding.

You could do something simple either before or after your celebration overseas!

I agree - most Celebrants would love to officiate at a destination wedding but you would have to keep in mind that all travel costs would have to be covered by you.

My interpretation of a "destination wedding" is overseas - is this the case?  Australian Celebrants are only authorised to solemnise weddings in Australia, so if overseas, you would have to make contact with the powers that be in that particular country eg Australian Embassy.  If married overseas, your marriage will be recognised in Australia as a valid marriage providing it was: Valid under the local law at the time it was entered into; and the marriage would have been recognised under Australian law if it took place in Australia.

Hope this helps and good luck with your plans!
