Hi There, I was just wondering if we get married by a minister (uniting church) or by a celebrant is the paperwork on the wedding day any different or is it still 2 x Form 16 and 1 x Form 15? Thanks Ellie

Yes , the paperwork is the same whether you are married by a civil celebrant or a minister in a church, although there may be some supplementry paperwork the church would like to be completed, such as their own marriage register.

Sounds like you are a Celebrant.

A Minister of religion who is a registered marriage Celebrant must comply with the Marriage Act 1961 and so yes, the forms are the same but the Church could possibly have its own additional document such a Church Marriage Register

Hi Ellie,

The Commonwealth legal paperwork as you have identified are the same for all celebrants (religious or civil).  However your church many have their own religous paperwork that needs to be attended to in the lead up to your wedding.

The forms are the same, it is just the training that is different and hence the focus on the wedding from a celebrant is about the couple.
