As long as they are in Australia Celebrants are able to legally perform ceremonies.  I performed a ceremony in New Zealand, however, the couple had presented to their Registry to have the "official ceremony" there first.

If we're getting married in a garden, do we need a undercover plan B for weather reasons?

Jeanette Cole Authorised Marriage Celebrant

Many of the weddings I perform in North Queensland are outdoors.  I will always suggest that my couples have a plan B.  99% of the time, it does not need to be used, however, having it reduces any stress that may be created by adverse weather conditions.  All the best for your wedding

How does the idea of an unplugged wedding go over with guests?

Do some choose to ignore it?

Jeanette Cole Authorised Marriage Celebrant

Nearly all of my ceremonies are unplugged these days.  Many of the guests accept and respect the couple's request, however, occasionally some guests that ignore the request. I also ask couples if they want me to ask guests not to post photos or videos online until they do.  Generally this is also requested.  In these times of instant communication, it is important for the couple to have the right to post their photos first.

What are some quintessential australian wedding traditions?

Jeanette Cole Authorised Marriage Celebrant

Many traditions such as giving the bride/groom/couple away are still used a great deal.  The processional is changing these days.  Sometimes you have both parents walking a bride/groom down the aisle other times couples walk down together.  Sometimes the Bride will make the walk along.  I think that tradition is still alive and well, just taking different forms.

If my partner is muslim, should I be having a civil or religious ceremony?

Are they both equal in the eyes of the law? I was not born in Aus so need a little help understanding

Jeanette Cole Authorised Marriage Celebrant

In order to respect your future life partner, you may be able to incorporate muslim readings, traditions, and/or rituals into a civil ceremony.  The celebrant has certain scripts that must be said by Australian Law.  These are minimal.  They can be incorporated into your ceremony.  It would be best to discuss with your partner and his family.  All the best.
