Congratulations on your recent engagement. I am so excited for you both. Now lets get to work and create your dream Wedding!

Congratulations on becoming engaged and planning your dream Wedding.

My name is Charis White and I believe that getting married is one of the most significant and important days of your life.

The ceremonies I perform are very special occasions due to their immaculate attention to detail. Whether you choose to have a traditional, non-traditional, large or small wedding, a civil service allows you to construct your own wedding ceremony to suit.

Your wedding ceremony should be reflective of you as a couple. Therefore, in preparing your ceremony, I like to get to know your personalities and where possible will tailor your ceremony to suit your desires, ideas, beliefs and needs.

I have performed hundreds of Weddings and was recently a finalist in the WEOA Awards of 2014.

Please feel free to contact me for an obligation free meeting regarding your special day.

Is it ok to not have children attend our wedding?

Charis White Celebrant

It is your wedding and this is a personal choice of the bride and groom.

Some people feel as though children at a wedding, means the adults cannot enjoy themselves.

As a mother of two children, it is a novelty to have a night out. So I would welcome this  decision if I was invited to an adults only wedding. I personally would not be offended at all.

If you decide not to have children at your wedding, you must let your guests know their children are not invited, in a polite way.    Perhaps, write adults only on the invitation. You or write the names of the guests on the. RSVP cards, so there can be no confusion.

Ultimately, if your budget does not allow more guests or you feel as though the vibe will not be right with children, it is your day and you have the right to decide what you want.

Good luck!

Is an on the day coordinator necessary to have at my wedding?

Charis White Celebrant

Of course budget plays a big role in any party. Weddings are expensive, so you need to decide on what elements are important to you and what you are willing to part ways with?

Some elements, in my eyes, are a must. Such as: a photographer, celebrant and of course a venue. Once you have sat down and done a budget, then find the essential suppliers and see what kind of room there is left in your budget.

If your budget allows, an on the day coordinator will take the stress out of any situation. Such as: when the weather turns at the last minute and you can no longer have an outdoor wedding. Or the hassle of getting a friend of family member to play the music. Or who will help with the set-up at the venue and make sure it all looks perfect. Who on the night will be responsible to take the marriage certificate. Who will help with the time flow of everything, who will direct the guests? There are so many job to do and an on the day coordinator will help with this.

Here are a few of my favourite suppliers:

One Day Your Way

Wedding Day PA

Weddings Of Distinction

Of course, if you do not have budget for one, I am always willing to do my part to help. I will help get guests seated, chat to the person doing the music and even help with the last minute changes to the ceremony location. I want your day to be perfect and I will do all I can to help where necessary.

Is it important to have wedding suppliers who know each other?

Charis White Celebrant

It is your wedding and you can have any suppliers you want. There are thousands of photographers, venues, florists, bands, hair and make-up stylists and videographers out there. Decide on the style you are going for, do an Instagram session, find a few suppliers you like and get in touch.

I believe that suppliers who know each other and have worked together before create a better wedding day. It is like a well choreographed dance. The photographer will not get in the videographers way and vice versa. The photographer will know where the celebrant will stand and when they will move, etc. The band will set up in an area where they are not in the way of the other suppliers.  The florist is skilled in creating an appropriate ceremony space.

It is amazing to watch highly skilled experts work in unison. I did a wedding last year where C2 Films and Mark Davis Photography were both involved. They were guiding each other the whole time, so they both got the shot they wanted and neither were in the others photos/video. Lark Music and I have also worked together several times and Luke knows exactly when the music should stop and start, a major relief for any celebrant.

Suppliers with experience know how to navigate a tough situation. I got caught in a wind storm at Baie Wines last year and Dan Brannan helped stabilise the arch. Another example was when I got caught in a monsoon at The Botanic Gardens with Leo Farrell  and he went above and beyond to make sure the couple had the best day possible in torrential rain. Or the lovely Burgess Video who gave me an output cable, so anyone who plugs into my PA gets the best audio feed possible for their video. Cam Grove and I were also caught in the rain and he helped to dry the seats of the guests. These suppliers went above and beyond for the best result for their clients, and that screams volumes to me.

Word of mouth in any industry is the best way forward. It is a genuine compliment from those who have worked together before. There is nothing I love more than recommending a supplier and getting fabulous feedback about their services.

I have a list of suppliers who I recommend highly. They are on my list because they are exceptional people with exceptional talents. They have great personalities, they are kind and are extremely easy to work with.        Please check out the recommendations section of my webiste for a complete list.

How far in advance should we book our celebrant?

Charis White Celebrant

Without a celebrant, your wedding is simply a very expensive party!

If you are going to be married in Australia, the most important thing to know about is the Notice of Intended Marriage. This needs to be lodged with your celebrant at least 30 days prior to the wedding and no longer than 18 months in advance of your wedding date.

Once you have decided on your wedding date, lock in your celebrant. There are three suppliers that go hand in hand. The venue, the celebrant and your photographer. These three suppliers will book up the fastest.  If you have a long engagement, simply do not wait to lock these three things in, that way you will not be disappointed.

Of course, if you have a short engagement then send out your enquiries as soon as you can.

Wedding planning is not stressful if you are organised and lock in experienced suppliers for your day.

How to write amazing wedding vows?

Charis White Celebrant

This part of the wedding is very daunting for most couples. Not only are you standing in front of your closest friends and family, but you also have to pour your heart out to the one you love.

Here are a few tips from me:

1.) Keep it short and simple. You already have the legals wedding vows to include: “I call upon the people here present to witness that I, AB/CD, take you, CD/AB, to be my lawful wedded wife/husband/partner.” After those words are spoken you can choose to say anything. Some people choose to just leave it at the legalities while others want to personalise them.

2.) Put pen to paper. Instead of googling vows for hours, write a few things down. Attributes you love about your partner, things you promise to them. Get a few things ideas down and try to put them together.

3.) Say what is in your heart. It does not need to be long, simple is also beautiful.

4.) There is no right or wrong way to go about this.  Funny vows are also great, your friends know your personality the best and if you are true to your character you will come up with something unique to you.

5.) Some couples like to make their vows a surprise while others want to know what will be said on the day. Decide what you feel most comfortable with and roll with that.

6.) I am here to help you. I also have a Vows document I will email you with loads of examples you can use for inspiration.

Enjoy the process, soak it up and don't forget, I'm here to help!

Review this supplier
28 Jan 2021

Charis is not only an exceptional celebrant but she is also an amazing human being. We not only see her as our celebrant, but as a friend and someone who will always hold a special place in our memories when we think about our wedding. Her warmth, friendliness and kindness calms me down throughout the whole journey and we cannot thank Charis enough for the wonderful ceremony which she created for us. Hope to cross paths again sometime soon.

22 Jan 2021

I wish that this would allow me to give more than five stars for Charis as she is simply the very best. I’m not sure that this review will do justice to how truly wonderful Charis is - both as a celebrant and as a person. From day one Charis took the time to get to know Andrew and I and made sure that we were comfortable and felt supported at every step of the way. Charis went way above and beyond to make sure that we felt loved and had the best day possible, including sharing her recommendations for vendors when in many instances we did not know who to turn to and what to do next. As we had to reschedule several times due to Covid, Charis remained extremely supportive throughout. She checked in on us many times and provided emotional as well as practical support.

17 Jan 2021

Charis made our day truly perfect! I never realised the importance of a celebrant you trust until the wedding day when I realised we had absolute nothing to stress about. She guided us through the whole thing, even navigating changes of dates due to Covid with such ease. Charis is such a warm person who makes everyone feel comfortable, very well spoken with a great sense of humour! The whole ceremony was perfectly tailored to us and our wants. My partner and all our guests could not stop talking about how amazing she was!

16 Jan 2021

There are not enough words that can be said to thank Charis for the amazing ceremony she put together for us on our day. From the first time we met, we had an instant connection and we could see just how much Charis loves doing what she does. She took all the stress away from planning our ceremony and having to postpone on more than one occasion. Our only criteria was that the ceremony was customised, personal and reflected us as a couple. To say that Charis delivered would be an understatement. We couldn't recommend her enough!

11 Jan 2021

Charis is such a beautiful person and we were so lucky to have her as part of our special day. She is a true professional with a heart of gold. From our very initial meeting, to rehearsal, all communication in between and the wedding she was the best celebrant we could have asked for. Not only did she connect with us on a level of professionalism but a personal level. She made us feel comfortable and put our nerves at ease for our big day, especially my husbands who had to wait for me under the arbour. We consider ourselves lucky that we found Charis and it was the best choice we made. Thank you for being wonderful, Charis!

Charis White Celebrant

Louise, It was my pleasure to be involved in your wedding day. It was the most perfect setting at The Sandbar.

1 Jan 2021

Charis White is exceptional at what she does. Charis ensured every final detail was accounted for on the day which in turn allowed for our wedding to run seamlessly. A truly magical day thank you, Charis. We feel blessed to have had you present on our special and forever treasured day. Thank you.

31 Dec 2020

Planning a wedding in 2020 was a near impossible task, Charis made it much more manageable and stress-free by constantly updating us and providing us with guidance on our ceremony procedure. She is down to earth; we are a shy couple but Charis is able to crack us open to share lots of our love story. She is very experienced and knowledgeable as she has a detailed PDF explaining how to run a ceremony. It also contains countless of readings and vow templates which become a bible for planning our ceremony. Charis can control time like Mosse controls the Red sea. She went above and beyond to have rehearsals with us between her other weddings. She was able to buy time and hold up the atmosphere while my ceremony was running behind schedule. Thank you once again for your hard work and it was a pleasure to have you.

29 Dec 2020

We had a wonderful experience with Charis and would certainly recommend her to any couple looking for a celebrant. Charis has a charm about her, she makes you feel comfortable and in safe hands. Charis is both knowledgeable, professional and kept us informed each and every step of the way. We thank you so much for being apart of our special day Charis!

26 Dec 2020

Charis is just wonderful! She officiated our wedding on Boxing Day and was impeccable, both on the day and in the lead up. We feel really lucky to have had her with us on our wedding journey. Her approach to learning about us helped my now-wife and I put into words our thoughts, memories and feelings about each other to create a personalised ceremony that our guests are still commenting on. They really enjoyed it. Charis was flexible and approachable, with excellent recommendations for other service providers (eg hair and makeup), and she had so many tips up her sleeve to make the whole day run smoothly. Truly, Charis was integral in making our wedding day special and memorable and we can't recommend her highly enough.

19 Dec 2020

To say Charis was amazing, would have to be an understatement. She made sure everything ran smoothly, kept on top of everything and when it came time for the ceremony - it was just breath taking. She really knows how to make memories last a life time! We will never forget our interactions with Charis and we can't thank her enough for creating the most beautiful ceremony we could have asked for.

5 Dec 2020

There’s a reason why you are the best in Melbourne Charis, you HONESTLY made our (multiple) planning due to covid feel so less stressful. We had such peace of mind knowing you were in control of our ceremony, you had taken a big weight off our shoulders. We had met a few other wedding celebrants beforehand so we were so grateful to be able work with you. Super organised, and very professional but also very personable and warm. HIGHLY recommend!!

24 Nov 2020

When we were searching for a celebrant for our civil wedding and found Charis, we knew we found the perfect one! An absolute champion and heaven sent. She guided us in every way possible, which means a lot to us given the pandemic and how stressful this time might be for couples getting married. Such a caring and passionate soul, a real beauty inside and out. Our guests and even those who attended via Zoom raved about how amazing Charis was. She's very professional and prompt but also has a great personality. We can't thank Charis enough for all that she did on our special day and for doing a fantastic job celebrating our marriage. We'll always be proud to be a Charis White Couple. We highly recommend her to any couples getting married!!

21 Nov 2020

Charis was the first celebrant we met with and we connected with her straight away. She is very warm and engaging, but also very informative and methodical with her approach. When we had to postpone our wedding due to covid and chose to elope, Charis was understanding and so easy to work with even with so much uncertainty surrounding the day. During the ceremony she was a calming presence and delivered it beautifully.

14 Nov 2020

Our experience with Charis as our celebrant was absolutely fantastic! Charis had everything under control from the moment we met until after the wedding. She arranged all of the paperwork for the legalities and kept us up to date with everything along the way. The ceremony was wonderful too! We got married during the pandemic so our guests were limited but Charis did a fantastic job making sure our guests who were watching via Zoom could see and she also took some fantastic photos for us as we were unable to have a photographer there. She really went above and beyond. Charis wrote our ceremony to reflect our relationship and our journey together and captured it perfectly. We highly recommend Charis!

8 Nov 2020

Charis is just gorgeous. She has been an absolute trooper to me through my journey as a "Covid bride" and has been so adaptable with our constant date shifting. Always keeping us up to date on the latest restriction changes etc. Highly recommended to other couples getting married.
