Hello, huzzah and congratulations! My name is Sheena and my pronouns are she/her. I am a marriage celebrant and I want to get you lovers hitched! I adore being a part of your marriage ceremony - whether it be a legals only, elopement, or full custom deluxe affair. When I'm not marrying people I work full time in cancer research, and run a micro flower farm in the beautiful Gloucester valley.

How long does it take to get your official marriage certificate after the wedding?

At the end of your ceremony I will provide you with a Marriage Certificate. That one is proof of marriage and is often referred to as a Ceremonial Certificate. It is unique, numbered, and cannot be replaced. It isn't proof of identitthat however - for that you need the official marriage certificate.

Within 14 days, I register your marriage with the state's Registry of Births Deaths, and Marriages. In NSW I do that online and the BDM can then issue your Official Marriage Certificate which is both, proof of marriage, and proof of identity. That is the one you need if changing your name on your licence or passport because it is proof of identity. It's not pretty - although there is the option of getting it on a fancy background now!

Is it OK to ask a celebrant to wear a costume at our wedding?

Heck yes - please ask me to wear a costume. I am all about it! I want you to have whatever makes it authentically your ceremony - and if that means a costume I am super keen!! Extra points for sequins.

Can I get married without the whole wedding and ceremony stuff?

Absolutely. This is what most celebrants call a "legals only" ceremony. I say a thing, you say one sentance to each other, we all sign papers (incl 2 witnesses who can be anyone). Then I lodge the paperwork and bam - you're hitched.

This can be done anywhere - from on your couch, to your favourite bar with a whisky in hand, to my office in the middle of a wednesday. Plus it's cheap as chips compared to a full customised wedding ceremony.

We fell in love with Sheen right off the bat when we read about her on her website. And even more when we got to meet her in person. She was professional from the start and made it so easy for us to share with her what we needed to make our day special. Sheena was absolutely amazing and truly went above and beyond for us! From our very first meeting, she made us feel completely at ease, taking the time to walk us through everything and answer all our questions. We met again to sign all the paperwork and finalise the details, and then had a full walk-through the day before the wedding which made us feel so prepared and relaxed. On the day, our ceremony was so personal and meaningful. Sheena took the time to really get to know us and our story, and created something that felt completely us. The way she told our love story was beautiful, it had all the “aww” moments, the funny bits, and the sentimental touches. One thing I especially loved was how she gave us space during the ceremony. It never felt rushed or over-directed, just natural, calm, and full of genuine emotion. We couldn’t recommend Sheena more highly 🤍

Our experience with Sheena was absolutely perfect from start to finish. From our first chat over a glass of wine to the final offical step, we felt comfortable and supported. Sheena helped us feel so calm during the process of planning the ceremony - she is so professional and experienced, and she helped us plan a ceremony that felt very true to us. She was great at checking in and prompting us to consider what we wanted our ceremony to feel like. Her suggestion of a whisper ring exchange was a lovely addition :) It’s hard to capture the perfection of Sheena’s ceremony in a written review… We filled out a questionnaire about our relationship (which was a lovely reflective experience in itself), then Sheena put together the most amazing couple story for the ceremony that really captured us and made it feel like she had known us forever. Her presentation of the ceremony was warm, calm, hilarious and just perfect. All of our guests said she was the best celebrant they’d ever seen, and of course we agree twholeheartedly.
