How long have you been a Celebrant? What did you do prior to becoming a Celebrant?

I became a registered Celebrant in May 2009. I have officiated at weddings held in varying locations, such as large venues, wineries, gardens, farms, golf courses and even a cricket pitch. Prior to becoming a Celebrant my role was as Trainer and Coordinator of hairdressing and Beauty students at Chisholm Institute of Tafe.

I love meeting new couples, and I love what I do. I feel very privilidged to be invited to play such an important role in a couples special day.

How do you see your role as Celebrant?

I see my role as Celebrant is to help you achieve a ceremony that is suitable to you both. I gather information from you which allows me to write a personal ceremony that is a one of a kind. I will guide you throught the legalities of becoming married and I will carefully lodge all paperwork to the correct authorities. I will always conduct a rehearsal.

My attention to detail on the day of your wedding and my calm manner will ensure things run smoothly and that your ceremony will be delivered in a professional manner, using my own personal style of relaxed and friendly.

How often do we need to meet with you?

Usually the first meeting is to just see if you can see me as the one that will perform your ceremony. Usually there is a connection when you choose the right people. We would discuss the style of ceremony you wanted and the legalities. If you then choose me as your celebrant we would then sign the official 'Notice of intended Marriage'.

Then we would communicate via email or phone. Sometimes another visit may be required to check on official paperwork or help with vows etc. Then the rehearsal at your venue and then the big day.

How long does the ceremony usually go for, and will all the guests be able to hear the ceremony?

This is probably the most commonly asked question. The ceremony duration will depend of course on what you would like to be included. Usually a ceremony lasts between 25-35 minutes. I find that in this time you are able to hold the attention of all the guests. My Public Address system is quite powerful and is also wireless, so no need for power. Guests often comment to me that they heard every word. I use a head style microphone and I also have an extra microphone for the couple to use for their vows.

How will I dress on the day of your wedding?

I dress as though I am going to a wedding, which of course I am. I ask what colour are being worn by the bridesmaids and I try and blend in. I dont wear any thing that will stand out too much, and I also pride myself on not getting in the way of the photographer and his/her perfect shot.
