FAQ
The Notice of Impending Marriage (NOIM) must be submitted by your celebrant at least a month before your wedding and no earlier than 18 months before.
The Declaration of No Legal Impediment (DNLI) needs completing just prior to the wedding.
Two wedding certificates are signed at the ceremony.
These are all lodged by your celebrant.
No, personal vows are optional. You can ake them in private before the wedding if you'd like.
You do have to say "I call upon the persons here present to witmess that I, (your name) take you, (parners name), to be my lawful wedded wife/husband/spouse" as this is a legal requirement.
A typical ceremony might include your story,personal vows, music, a poem or reading, ring exchange, progression etc. This can take between 15 -30 minutes, depending on how much you want to include.
If you want just legals for your ceremony it can take as little as 5-10 minutes.
Choosing a celebrant with whom you feel comfortable and genuinely connected is essential. While budget is naturally a consideration, the celebrant plays a pivotal role in setting the tone and atmosphere for your wedding day.
