OVERVIEW

I will help you create a Ceremony that's perfectly suited to you.

My name is Elsi Kohlmann, I am a fully qualified civil marriage celebrant, available for Weddings, Renewal of Vows, "No Bells and Whistles" weddings and Commitment Ceremonies.

I travel throughout the Brisbane area, Logan, Redcliffe, Ipswich, North and South Coasts, Pine Rivers, Lockyer Valley, Toowoomba, Forest Lake and Springfield areas.
My Logan base allows me to work in popular areas including Bay Islands, Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast.

I strongly believe a wedding should be an affordable event and therefore endeavour to keep my prices reasonable low.
My commitment to having an event all about you is true in every moment – your unique wishes are carried out and all expectations are exceeded.

There is no such thing as a silly question so feel free to contact me with any queries you may have, or to arrange a free consultation.
I will be more than happy to meet you to discuss your wants and need for a memorable ceremony.

FAQ

Yes, anyone over the age of 18 can be a witness at your wedding

No that certificate is a presentation certificate only and can not be used as legal proof of marriage.

You will have to apply for an official copy from department of Births, Deaths and Marriages in the state where you got married.

Yes ,the vows are part of the legal requirements in a wedding ceremony.

The vows do not have to be long or complicated at all just a few words to reflect that you are making a lifelong commitment to each other . As your celebrant I can help you find a few but meaninful words to say.

No  I can not personally shorten the time, it can only be done by prescribed authorities, you can normally make an appointment to see someone at the department of Births ,Deaths and Marriages whom can help you with that.

There are only five reasons a prescribed authority may allow a couple to marry in Australia when a Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM) is lodged with an authorised celebrant with less than one month’s notice:

Employment related or other travel commitments (evidence of the date on which the applicant was informed about this commitment as opposed to the date on which the commitment will commence will need to be provided);

Wedding or celebration arrangements, or religious considerations (receipts for payments or evidence of the date wedding invitations were sent will need to be produced);

Medical reasons (a letter from a medical practitioner will be required);

Legal proceedings; or

An error in giving notice (on the part of the authorised celebrant, not the couple.)

My parents think I am too young for marriage. What can I do?

Elsi Kohlmann Marriage Celebrant

Your age should not be the deciding question as to whether you should get married or not.

If you are over the age of 18 it is of course your decision. The real question is “are you ready to make a lifelong commitment to your partner, and are they ready to make that commitment to you”, because that is basically what you are doing when entering into marriage.

Some people are ready when they are 18 others not until later in life, if you feel that you are both ready to take on that commitment then by all means go ahead and get married.

It is always nice if your parents are agreeable so try to talk to them and tell them the reasons why you feel you are ready for this, if they realise you are serious about getting married and have thought it through then they may be more open to the marriage.
