Our story

For more than two decades, Easy Weddings has guided engaged couples in assembling their own dream team of quality suppliers for their day.

Back in 2000, future bride and groom Matt and Katrina Butterworth sat down to plan their wedding. What should have been an easy process became a nightmare with nothing online to help make the planning process any easier. It was there in their lounge room that Easy Weddings was born! And bit by bit, night by night, Matt and Kat worked on the site to build the platform that would become Australia's largest and most popular wedding website today.

2022

Easy Weddings spends the year in full recovery mode, taking advantage of the glut in postponed weddings, while supporting the industry to keep up. Face-to-face industry events resume around Australia. Easy Weddings re-launches its site, with a fresh, new, modern design and even more intuitive planning tools. Venue Crew by now services Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, London and Surrey.

2021

COVID continues to challenge the wedding industry with snap lockdowns, event rules changing daily, and uncertainty taking a toll. Easy Weddings puts all its efforts into support clients and couples, while retaining its team members internally.

2020

The global COVID pandemic spreads, forcing the postponement of thousands of weddings. Easy Weddings fights to support its clients and couples alike. In the meantime, Easy Weddings launches a global, specialist, venues-only platform, Venue Crew, with venues in Melboure, Sydney and London.

2019

Easy Weddings puts on a hugely successful national wedding industry conference, Evolve, held over two education-packed days at Four Seasons Sydney, with local and international guest speakers.

2018

The Easy Weddings couples' Facebook group, The Wedding Planning Party, is launched in Australia. Easy Weddings UK undergoes its largest makeover yet; by this stage, 50+ staff across Australia and the UK are part of the family. The mobile apps, too, for Apple and Android, are redesigned, with the newest feature - a fun, interactive style quiz added.

2017

Easy Weddings launches it's own CRM for wedding businesses, named WedCRM. The Easy Weddings Pro-Edu Facebook group is born.

2016

The directory is re-launched with a direct enquiry system between couples and wedding businesses. WeddingVenues.com.au is re-launched, too, as are the iPhone and Android apps.

2015

Easy Weddings launches in the UK. The Australian team moves to larger offices in Mulgrave to fit their growing numbers. Easy Weddings starts running industry education events for suppliers.

2014

4,000 suppliers are now listed on Australia’s largest online wedding directory – EasyWeddings.com.au! The site receives its biggest makeover yet – with more awesome features on the way.

2013

The Easy Weddings’ Wedding Planner iPad App becomes one of the top wedding planning apps in the UK, USA and Australia. The Android app is released on the Google Play Store. The Real Weddings section of the site is re-launched, and the very first Wedding of the Year competition begins.

2012

The iPhone and iPad directory and planning apps are released in the iTunes App Store.

2011

Easy Weddings wins the Victorian Business of the Year award at the Telstra Business Awards, as well as the MYOB Small Business Award (Victoria) that year.

2009

The site now has 2,500 suppliers on board Matt and Kat develop WeddingVenues.com.au. The team develops an internal CRM and creates a dedicated client administration team.

2008

Easy Weddings becomes the No.1 wedding website in Australia – and has the celebration to match! The team moves into their first offices at Notting Hill, in Melbourne.

2007

Easy Weddings reaches one thousand suppliers in the directory.

2006

The first Easy Weddings staff member is hired! Matt and Kat develop EasyWeddings.com.au

2005

Matt and Kat both start working full time on Easy Weddings.

2004

New interactive planning tools for couples are introduced.

2003

Matt and Kat go on their honeymoon travelling Australia, photographing garden locations and gaining new advertisers. Easy Weddings is featured nationally on TV on Channel Nine's A Current Affair.

2002

The very first Victorian advertisers come online. Website design service begins.

2001

The Articles, Music and Directory sections are introduced to the site.

2000

The Easy Weddings business plan is developed and the first version of EasyWeddings.com.au goes online.
