Mel Buttigieg joined Easy Weddings in 2022, as a newlywed COVID bride, having navigated the impacts of pandemic postponements first-hand. She’s the Easy Weddings face you’ll see most if you run a wedding industry business, as she hosts webinars, advises small and mid-size business owners on marketing strategy, and produces the Evolve industry events. Her mission is to simplify the wedding industry for Australian suppliers.

Prior to joining Easy Weddings, Mel bolstered the marketing-led growth of direct-to-consumer funeral industry e-commerce start-up Bare Cremation. She understands the many similarities between the two major life events — weddings and funerals. At Bare, Mel built an extensive resource centre packed with information to educate Australians on the end-of-life planning process. Her journalism background helped to break down the complexities of the estate administration process with empathetic and informative content.

In addition to the Easy Weddings Pro-Education page, you can also find Mel’s editorial work as a freelance columnist for The Age and Sydney Morning Herald, as well as a back catalogue of articles for Yahoo Australia. She also runs a zine distro with her partner, collaborating with a community of writers and artists across Australia to share their work with the community.

Mel holds a Graduate Diploma of Communication and an undergraduate Journalism degree from Deakin University.
