To answer your question I would say, it depends on factors like: the scale of your wedding, If you need the photographer to be present at the groom and bride's house on the same day, if you have a big venue for your reception and you want photos of all your guests. Basically you need to decide on the focus of your photos and practically figure out if your photographer can manage all the photos in the same time frame. Hope this answers your question :)
