How often do we meet to discuss the ceremony?

I offer as many meetings as you wish prior to the ceremony ot talk about any details and ensure your day runs smoothly

As the celebrant, what exactly do you offer?

  • I suggest an initial no obligation meeting where the client can decide if i am the right person for them.
  • I write a personal ceremony and submit drafts to the couple for final approval and will make changes until it is perfect.
  • I prepare all the legal documents and submit them after the ceremony to BDM
  • I include a rehearsal as close to the ceremony as possible, so that everything runs smoothly on the day.
  • I can provide a PA System and help with music choices if needed.

How do we choose the right Celebrant?

You should find someone that you are completely comfortable with, a celebrant who will tell your story in a loving and caring way and will work with you to make your day everything you wish for.  The right celebrant will provide you with a ceremony that is full of substance and meaning.

How far in advance can we / should we book a Celebrant?

You can book your celebrant as far in advance as you like, however you won’t  be able to fill in the required paperwork until it is within 18 months of the wedding, and must be completed at least 1 month prior to the wedding

What paperwork do we need to lodge for our wedding?

After the wedding the paperwork that needs to be lodged to the office of Births, Deaths and Marriages, is the NOIM (Notice of intent to Marry, The Declaration of no Legal Impediment and the marriage certificate.  All of these documents should have been signed and witnessed. As part of my service I will submit all the legal documents for you.

I don’t have one month, can I apply for a ‘Shortening of Time?

There are some circumstances where you can apply for shortening of time, however a celebrant is not able to do this for you, The couple must have a reason that complies with Section 42 (5) of the Marriage Act 1961 and includes reasons like: Employment or travel related commitments

      Wedding or celebration arrangements

      Medical reasons

      Legal proceedings

Error in giving the NOTICE – meaning error by the celebrant.

There are then ways to apply and if needed more information can be given.

When and where we can a couple marry?

The possibilities are endless, Parks, Gardens, your own backyard, skydiving (eek) or overlooking the beach.  Whatever you decide remember some public places require permission or a council permit, so always check before sending out invitations

Are you prepared to travel for our wedding?

Absolutely, in fact I am heading up to Cairns in June 2019 for a wedding, of course the couple need to factor in the cost of travel, whether that be a cost for driving if it is over a certain distance, or flying me to the destination and to cover the cost of accommodation if needed.

How much input can we have for our ceremony?

As much as possible, it is important to me that your ceremony is exactly that, YOUR’s that means I work with you every step of the way, I will write you a 1st draft for you to take away and see what works or doesn’t and we can re-hash and re-jig as much as possible until it is exactly what you are after.

What if we don’t know what we want in our ceremony?

I can guide you through the process and am available for as many meetings as you need until we have a set idea in mind.  I can help you with the music and even talk you through writing your own vows – it may take a while, but we will get there.

Should we have a rehearsal?

Absolutely – I highly recommend a rehearsal, usually the night before the wedding or sometime during the week, this will not only calm the nerves, but gives us a chance to go over any last minute requests, and to fill in the final piece of legal paperwork.

What time will you arrive on the day?

I like to arrive at least 1hr prior to the ceremony, if not earlier, this way I can make sure the venue is set up the way you want it and I will be there to greet you all when you arrive.

Will our wedding in Australia be recognised worldwide?

Yes it will.
