Expert Advice

As a wedding professional, Dusk To Dawn Celebrant offers expert advice to help couples plan their perfect day. Ask a question or read their expert advice.

Does the celebrant have to do the whole "how they met" story?

I feel like that might be awkward for us. We are a super stong and stable couple now, but when we met we still had a lot of growing up to do (we were teenagers, and broke each others hearts.) We had a huge falling out and reconnected later. It was very messy and all of our fam and friends know that. Do we have to go into that when our life is so beautiful NOW, and has been for years now?

No The Celebrant does not have to go into how you met as a celebrant I design a wedding ceremony that suits my couple you can put as much about how you met what you love about each other why you decided to get married or none at all.

What's the usual order of events in a wedding ceremony?

The usual order of events in the weddig ceremonies I do are 1. An Introduction. 2. Reading if  the couple would like one. 3. Celebrant Monitum [this must be include in every ceremony as it is a legal requirment}. 4. Presentation of Bride/Goom or giving away of the bride if the couple would like to include one. 5. The Asking. 6.Vows [these must be included in every ceremony as they are a legal requirement]. 7. Ring Ceremony. 8. Declaration of Marriage. 9. Sign the register and certificates [this must be include in every ceremony as it is a legal requirement. 10. Congratulate.

My partner won't be wearing a wedding ring. Does this make the "ring exchange" part of the ceremony seem awkward?

Hello, My partner won't be wearing a wedding ring. Does this make the "ring exchange" part of the ceremony seem awkward?

No not at all,  many grooms perfer not to wear a ring it is quite common. In my roll as a celebrant I would modify this part of the ceremony giving you many different samples to pick from.

if its a hot day should i be providing umbrellas and fans for my guests? (outdoor ceremony)

Yes it is a very good idea to supply umbrellas for your guest and I suggest cold bottles of water as well as in my experince with outdorr weddings on hot days guest do become quite dehydrated and I have noticed on many occasion how uncomfortable they are if they are just sitting or standing in the hot sun with out either some shade as in an umbrella and no water.

How can I help my celebrant to provide a personal and fun service?

What's the best way for me to help my celebrant to provide a personal and fun service?

I believe the first thing for couple to do is meet with any celebrant in person for an obligation free meeting and if you then decide that you are comfortable with the celebrant you have chosen I think the best way to create a personal fun ceremony for my clients as a is to find out as much information as possible, by giving them a questionnaire {3 pages} with questions such as How and when did you meet? What you liked about your partner when your first met? When did you fall in love and realise your partner was for you? What does Marriage mean to you etc receiving this questionnaire helps me get to know my couples more which allows me to be able to create a personal fun ceremony. I work closely with my couples to make sure I deliver a tailored ceremony within the civil ceremony requirements that they are happy with.
