How to look after a bigger engagement ring?

Hi! My ring is big and I don't want it getting too knocked around, it's only 4 prong, how can I care for it? Should I be taking it off to shower and gym/ sleep etc?

Congratulations on your engagement and your approaching marriage. To keep your ring looking as good as it does now we do recommend following some simple rules. Removing it whilst showering, sleeping and certainly at the gym and in the garden is recommended. Housework and doing the dishes are also best done without your ring on. Hard metals like stainless steel taps, sinks and also gym weights will dramatically increase the wear rate of your claws and increase the chance of damage. Ensuring your diamond is held securely is more critical with a 4 claw than a 6 claw simply because you have less metal holding your diamond. It is possible to clean your diamond at home using cloudy ammonia to bring back the sparkle but the best method is to have it professionally cleaned at your local jeweller. They should also be able to advise you of any potential problems before they arise. Enjoy wearing your ring!

Good Afternoon,

Firstly I would like to say , you are very lucky to have received a big engagement ring, and in order to maintain the look as new and fresh as possible , its important that you care for it always. When you are home doing housework , cooking , or generally at home, your ring does not need to be worn , so we advise you take it off and leave in its box. Also whenever possible try cleaning it in cloudy ammonia and warm water and dish washing liquid to eliminate any potential grime to build up. Also we would recommend that you visit your local Jeweller , yearly to have the ring viewed for any potential knocks, the ring may have endured and general wear and tear. Regular love and attention , like anything will keep the ring looking fresh and new always.

In the meantime have a wonderful day , and happy planning for your wedding day in March 2018.

Kindest Regards
