What is a Legal Marriage Ceremony?

A Legal Marriage Ceremony, according to the Marriage Act 1961 is made up of the Monitum, which is recited, Ad verbatim, as per the Marriage Act, by your Celebrant.

At some stage proper identification of the marrying couple must be stated. That is the full name of the parties to the marriage.

Lastly, the legal wording for the Marriage Vows.

Please note: Two witnesses over the age of 18 years are to be present at your Marriage Ceremony.

Marriage Vows where do we start, what should we say?

Did you know your marriage vows/promises to your partner/loved one are the highlight of your marriage ceremony.

It's the time you look into each other's eyes and speak from your heart about your love, your support, your hopes and aspirations, loyalty and commitment.

Legal vows begin with the following words

I call upon the people here present to witiness that I (groom/partner) take you (bride/partner) to be my lawful wedded wife/husband/partner

You can then go on to speak about your commitment, offering to be there in good times and difficult times and so forth.

Jenny assists with samples of vows to choose from. Whatever your choice Jenny is happy to assist and even on occasion has written personalised vows, based on discussions with the party.

So with Jenny as your celebrant you are not on your own, you will be guided and assisted as much as you would like to be.

After 20 years together as a couple, we decided it was time to take the plunge & get 'officially' married. We looked at a number of websites & read a lot of reviews. Jenny's site was (like herself), warm, welcoming & in no way 'stuffy' (she quotes Robert Heinlein!). Emails back and forth followed (with a couple of phone calls) & we eventually met for coffee and to finalize the details. Throughout Jenny has been very professional & knowledgeable, but also never stopped being that same warm, welcoming, patient & fun person. She carefully listened to our needs & brought a bright, respectful & calm energy to our wedding. We have no hesitation in recommending Janette Butler-Grech as the celebrant overseeing any ceremony.

Jenny sounded friendly, caring and professional when we called to make some inquiries. We met her in her warmly decorated office and we felt reassured about the whole process, which involved a prospective marriage visa application and the relevant paperwork required from the marriage celebrant. From that day until the actual ceremony, Jenny kept us informed with regular updates and we discussed together the different aspects of the ceremony. we even did a rehearsal!!! That was really good, because it removed lots of uncertainties and anxiety. Finally, when the big day arrived, Jenny conducted the ceremony with a beautiful smile, sincerity, warmth and professionalism and everything went according to plan. The guests were made to feel welcome and we all experienced an unforgettable night. Jenny even arranged for the marriage certificates with the registry. It was a fantastic experience and we do not hesitate to recommend Jenny to other couples.
