FAQ

I think the first thing is to ask yourself "what do we want our wedding to look/feel like".  You need to make sure your celebrant is a good fit for your vision.  It is also important that the celebrant is open to your ideas and flexible in their approach to your wedding day.

First place to get an idea of the celebrants style would be to check out photos/videos.  This will help with your initial research.

Don't be afraid to ask questions and bring your ideas to the table.

It is a legal requirement for the "Notice of Intention to Marry" be completed no less than 1 month prior to your planned wedding day.

I would recommend that you don't leave it till last in your planning for your wedding.  Also, as celebrants can be booked months in advance, it is a good idea to secure your first choice of celebrant early.

There are many options to include those passed in your wedding day.  A couple of suggestions are:

* Photos - place photos at various locations during your ceremony/reception, ie could be on a chair, on the signing table, or someone holds it.

* Acknowledge them in your ceremony.

* Placing a representation of that person, ie could be favourite flowers, favourite colours, favourite song, personal item (golf club, etc).

* A reading during the ceremony to represent that person.

Most definitely.  Remember your wedding day is a celebration of you as a couple so should represent your vision.  Any of these elements can be included to make your day special and unique to you.

You will need 2 witnesses.  The witness can be anyone you choose as long as they are over the age of 18.  This can be a nice way to include someone special in your ceremony.  Please note that the celebrant can not one of the witnesses.

Karyn was absolutely amazing!! She travelled from NSW to Tasmania to make sure she was the person to officiate our elopement and to be the person for our ceremony back in NSW. From the moment we met up, to the walks around the venue, she calmed all my nerves and made sure everything was under control. Everything went smoothly and I would like to think that was due to Karyn being the front person of our ceremony. We went over many drafts of my vows together with me changing many things at every draft and nothing seemed to be a bother! Very thankful for such a great celebrant and an even better person!

Thanks Jamie. It was an absolute pleasure to be part of both your ceremonies. My aim is to make the process stress free and make sure you both enjoy the moment.

Karyn was amazing! She made our day so special. She helped us figure out exactly what we wanted and how we could keep it in line with our vision for the day. Every part of the process was easy and fun. On the day, seeing Karyn made me feel so relaxed and ready because she just reassured us that whatever was happening in the room didn’t matter and it was all about one another.

Do celebrants travel and how far?

Hello. We're considering getting married in the country but are wondering, if we find the celebrant we love, if they generally travel to do weddings. How do they price for that?

Karyn Bridge - Civil Marriage Celebrant

All celebrants have their own position on whether they are prepared to travel and if they charge an extra fee.  I would suggest that when you find the celebrant you love, this would be an important question to ask upfront.  Pricing is usually dependent on distance and potential accommodation costs for the celebrant.
