How do you describe your wedding style?

Casual is the most popular style of wedding

Casual weddings are the most popular choice for Easy Weddings couples according to a poll, but there are also still many that prefer to stick with something more formal. Although 36% of couples that took part in the poll reported they would be having a casual wedding, they were closely followed by the 33% that said they would be holding a traditional wedding.

The concept of a casual wedding is difficult to define because it is, in effect, the opposite of a formal wedding. Wedding outfits are kept simple and understated and the wedding breakfast often takes the form of a barbecue or picnic. Casual weddings are popular with couples who want a celebration that suits their lifestyle rather than following traditional wedding etiquette. They are often held outdoors, allowing nature to provide the decorations.

Many couples still love the idea of a traditional wedding which will involve formal outfits for everyone from the groom to the guests. The catering arrangements are likely to be more structured with a sit down wedding breakfast. At a traditional wedding you are more likely to find an established wedding format including the speeches, first dance, and cake cutting ceremony, probably with a traditional tiered wedding cake.

21% of couples that responded to the poll reported that they were planning a contemporary wedding. This may mean that they are embracing the latest wedding trends, such as wedding cakes made of cheese, dessert buffets, and food stations. It may also mean that their style of wedding outfits, stationery, decor, and venue have a modern flavour.

Of around 2,100 respondents, 10% reported that they were planning a themed or destination wedding. Themed weddings, whether the theme is nautical, fairground, or butterflies, are a great way to make your day memorable and to tie together all of your wedding accessories. Destination weddings have become a fantastic way to combine your wedding and honeymoon, and to share your day with those closest to you in a truly idyllic setting.
