It's great to organise your wedding gown as early as you can, the more time you have the more likely you'll be able to book in with the designer you feel comfortable with and the more options you'll have for fabric/lace choices, some of which can take months to arrive. Saying that if we have an enquiry for a gown to be made in a short time frame, and we have the capacity, we would still be able to create a beautiful gown, you'd be able to choose from our range of availible stocked fabrics. In short, the more time you allow, the better the chance of getting exactly what you love. If you have a year start looking already, eight to twelve months gives plenty of time to enjoy the process and make a great decission, six moths or less, you really have to get onto it ASAP. You'll find once you choose your gown it can set the tone for the whole wedding style and all the other details start to easily fall into place. Best of luck!

This really does depend on the designers schedule for that year. We take on a limted amount of brides each month so often popular months in Queensland like September can be fully booked 9 months out but you might be able to have something created for you for a July wedding wedding booking only a few months out as this is a quieter time for weddings. Generally speaking I would say book your space at least 9 months out but we don't start creating your gown till 5 months out incase of weight changes.

This is the number 1 question I get asked, and there isn't a set time frame that all designers work to.

It all goes to the schedule of the designer and their current work load. Usually it will be a 8 to12 month timeframe. If the designer has allready been booked up, it could be even longer than that.

That being said, you may get lucky and a spot may open up in a designer's schedule, and they may be able to fit you in.

I have had a brides contact me 2-3 yrs out from their  weddings, and I have had brides contact me 6-12 weeks before their weddings.

Generally speaking I would think anything less than 6 months and you might be struggling to find someone who could successfully accommodate all your design choices.

If you are looking at less than that 6 months and you are wanting a custom dress don't wait, and, don't let it put you off finding a designer. Start by contact a few and see of they have room for you in their schedule. You won't know unless you ask.

I hope this helps,

Mel ??

Hi

This is a very valid question and it’s often a misconception that brides believe a wedding dress can be made in a few weeks/months.  Truth is wedding dresses can take 8 - 12 months to create, especially if the Designer has a full order book.

Our CUSTOM Bridal Wear typically require 8-12 months for the following reasons (depending on how busy we are):

·       Initial consultation (1 hour)

·       Design phase (2 weeks)

·       Fabric selection (2 weeks)

·       Patternmaking (varies)

·       Production (typically 3-4 months)

·       3 -5 Fittings and any necessary adjustments (2 months)

·       Delivery a month before the Big Day to relieve “Dress Stress”

I hope this helps and please reach out if you'd like to know more details of how I work with regional and international brides.

Kind regards, Joanne.

It depends on the designer and their schedule, I am currently operating on a 6month minimum lead time.
