The Arboretum was named at an official ceremony held on April 30, 1986 in honour of Dame Elisabeth Murdoch in recognition of her contribution to the project. As at January 1994, there were approximately 1,100 plants representing 110 genus and 298 species. The Arboretum has become a very attractive local park, extremely popular for outdoor weddings and photographs. There is off street parking at the Edward Street entrance and a rotunda available for shelter.

This garden has many colourful plants which make for great backdrops for your ceremony. The area pictured above is the main lawn area that could be used for your ceremony. There are a couple of down points to this location, being the noise level coming from Cranbourne - Frankston Road and the grass can hold quite an amount of water after rain. Despite these faults it is still an attractive garden which is looked after well.
