Reflecting on her own wedding, Deb recalls the excitement and busyness that comes with organising one of life's most cherished days. Becoming a celebrant was always Deb's heartfelt dream, and when the opportune moment arrived, she seized it. In late 2018, after her family had grown, she obtained her qualifications and officiated her first wedding in March 2019. Since then, she has been captivated by the enchantment of helping couples transform their ideas into a beautiful reality.

"We already had three children when we finally got around to tying the knot, one from a previous relationship so it was important to make this more of a family wedding. Deb came recommended by a friend who had been to a wedding she was the celebrant at. From the moment we had coffee together I could see how she was going to work out for us. She had children of her own and understood what we were hoping to gain by including everyone in our ceremony. We had the children in the party of course, but then she suggested a sand ceremony. We all chose a colour of sand and together added layers to make a great family jar that now sits near the TV. It was symbolic but mostly it was fun, and the kids remember every time they see it. "We met Deb at a wedding expo and asked her for some advice. Our dream wedding was in Bali by the beach with a few friends and family, but we were worried about how legal that would be in Australia when we returned. Some countries, she explained, are perfectly legal in their process but equally there are some countries that could be doubtful. Her suggestion was to do a legal only ceremony before we left and then we could enjoy our Bali wedding, knowing that in Australia we were now legally married. We decided to take the worry out and met with Deb to start the process and then a week before we flew out, we met by the beach with two friends and Deb performed the quick legal ceremony and lodged all our documents.
