Not least of which proof was their early trip to Mexico. \u201cJohn came down with a horrible bout of gastro and it resulted in a\u00a03am\u00a0trip to the local hospital of a small town where I attempted to use as much Spanish that I knew to help him,\u201d she explains. \u201cI witnessed things that I\u2019m sure couples who have been married for decades have still not witnessed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But not long after, things got a little more serious than a stomach bug. Petra was diagnosed with cervical cancer and as a result had to have tough discussions with John about children. \u201cConversations about marriage, children and each other\u2019s desires suddenly got quite serious but I knew inside that this man would never leave my side,\u201d says Petra. Then, when her mother suddenly passed, John was again there as her rock.<\/p>\n<p>The loved-up Melbourne couple married on May 2, 2015 with an modern elegant wedding. \u201cOur wedding theme summed up everything about us \u2013 modern, elegant and contemporary,\u201d smiles Petra. \u201cWe celebrated with 68 friends and family at Alto Event Space on top of Melbourne\u2019s iconic GPO
