{"id":193305,"date":"2016-06-11T21:00:14","date_gmt":"2016-06-11T11:00:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/content.easyweddings.com\/au\/real-weddings\/colour-happy-kristy-peters-bright-bold-kate-spade-wedding\/"},"modified":"2022-05-17T15:48:48","modified_gmt":"2022-05-17T05:48:48","slug":"colour-happy-kristy-peters-bright-bold-kate-spade-wedding","status":"publish","type":"au-real-wedding","link":"https:\/\/www.easyweddings.com.au\/real-weddings\/colour-happy-kristy-peters-bright-bold-kate-spade-wedding\/","title":{"rendered":"Colour me happy: Kristy and Peter&#8217;s bright and bold Kate Spade wedding"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"lead\">The bold colours, touch of glitter and iconic black and white stripes of a New York designer inspired the styling of Kristy Morcom and Peter\u00a0Elkhuizen&#8217;s big day.<\/p>\n<p>The Melbourne couple&#8217;s Kate Spade wedding borrowed the designer&#8217;s bold style while giving graphic designer Kristy, 31, plenty of scope to apply her creative skills.<\/p>\n<p>Kristy and Peter, 32, met online and after about a year-and-a-half together Peter popped the question on a night out overlooking the Melbourne skyline.<\/p>\n<p>The couple were married by Peter&#8217;s father, a Uniting Church minister, on March 13, 2015 at St Andrew&#8217;s Gardiner Uniting\u00a0Church, Glen Iris.\u00a0Ninety friends and family witnessed the ceremony and bride Kristy says they felt blessed to be wed by Peter&#8217;s dad.\u00a0&#8220;Not many people can say they were married by their dad\/father-in- law!&#8221; she says.<\/p>\n<p>Celebrations continued at\u00a0<a title=\"Leonda by the Yarra\" href=\"https:\/\/www.easyweddings.com.au\/WeddingVenues\/Melbourne\/LeondaByTheYarra\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Leonda by the Yarra<\/a>, where black and white table runners, glitter candle holders and bright blooms allowed the Kate Spade theme to shine.\u00a0&#8220;I added the gold glitter to all the candle\u00a0holders by hand (all 60 of them), made the\u00a0place cards, and my mum sewed the table\u00a0runners,&#8221; Kristy says of her DIY efforts.<\/p>\n<p>The graphic designer also showed off her artistic side\u00a0with the invitations, menus and seating chart.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Everything ran perfectly to plan and we couldn\u2019t have imagined a\u00a0better day,&#8221; she\u00a0says.\u00a0&#8220;The speeches were hilarious and there was plenty of dancing!
