The only catch &#8211; it was a 13-hour drive from home!<\/p>\n<p>The Griffith pair, aged 26 and 34 respectively, chose Fig Tree Restaurant in Byron Bay for their 90 guests including 13 children. \u201cWe got on a plane straight away to go <a title=\"Crucial wedding venue questions\" href=\"https:\/\/www.easyweddings.com.au\/articles\/wedding-venue-questions\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">visit this venue<\/a> and we instantly knew this was the one,\u201d explains Jena. \u201cIt was a 13-hour drive from our home town but we knew we could make it work.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The couple included their children Lucah and Elijah in the October 1, 2017 ceremony, as <a title=\"Flower girl dresses\" href=\"https:\/\/www.easyweddings.com.au\/FlowerGirls\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">flower girl <\/a>and page boy. \u201cApart from our ceremony being the most emotional experience, it is a tradition of Maori culture to perform the Haka at special ceremonies,\u201d says the bride of her New Zealand groom. \u201cDuring the speeches, Michael\u2019s brother David performed his own Haka, and not long after that all the Maori people joined in and performed to Michael.
