This controversial trend is likely to ruffle some feathers, and get brides and hens alike clucking with distaste.<\/p>\n<p>Reddit user cbsteven vented online on behalf of a disgruntled friend after receiving\u00a0an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.easyweddings.com.au\/WeddingInvitations\/\" target=\"_blank\">invitation<\/a> to what was called a &#8216;silent bridal shower&#8217;. Warning: feelings of disgust may ensue.<\/p>\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.easyweddings.com.au\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-64691 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.easyweddings.com\/files\/2021\/10\/30181530\/silent-bridal-shower.png\" alt=\"silent bridal shower\" width=\"478\" height=\"642\" title=\"\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h2>So what is a silent bridal shower?<\/h2>\n<p>A silent bridal shower is basically no <a href=\"https:\/\/www.easyweddings.com.au\/HensParty\/\" target=\"_blank\">bridal shower<\/a> at all. No party. No fuss. There&#8217;s\u00a0no cake, no champagne, and ultimately no fun.\u00a0Admittedly, hens nights are often expensive and time consuming for brides and guests alike. When added to the long list of wedding expenses for a guest \u2014 outfits, presents, accommodation, travel \u2014\u00a0scrapping the hens night may seem plausible. However, this is not what the invitation is suggesting.<\/p>\n<p>While the party may have been cancelled, the invitation received by cbsteven instead asked for a cheque of whatever value to be enclosed and made out to the newlyweds. No party \u2014 but still an expense to the &#8220;guests&#8221;. The bride can forgo your company.\u00a0Even the typo offence \u2014 envelop instead of envelope \u2014 pales in comparison to the blatant demand\u00a0for money.<\/p>\n<p>Fellow redditors toyed with the idea, suggesting that if they received a similar invitation, they&#8217;d send a cheque worth $0.25.
